Possible benefits include: domestic energy security, soil structure and fertility restoration, protection of surface and groundwater, enhanced wildlife habitat, and carbon sequestration. An application of the work of David Tillman, University of Minnesota Department of Ecology and research conducted at the Cedar Creek Ecological Research Station, Bethel, Minnesota on low input and high diversity biomass systems for energy production. This research was conducted under the guidance of E.Calvin Alexander, Professor Emeritus, Geology Department, University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
