Delta Air Lines and Amazon signed (31-Mar-2026) an agreement to introduce Amazon Leo inflight connectivity, expanding the Delta Sync WiFi and seat back experiences. The initial installation will commence on 500 aircraft from 2028. [more - original PR]

Amazon rebranded its Project Kuiper low Earth orbit constellation as Amazon Leo, with JetBlue planning a phased roll out from 2027 and Airbus planning integration for HBCplus customers2. Delta also selected Hughes' Fusions simultaneous multi-orbit IFC for select A350 and A321neo deliveries, expanding installations across more than 400 aircraft including ERJ, CRJ and 717 fleets3.

Lufthansa Group announced (31-Mar-2026) plans to expand capacity in summer 2026, with its airlines adding 1600 flights from European hubs. Details include:

Lufthansa Group scheduled over 14,000 weekly connections to more than 330 destinations in around 100 countries for summer 2026, across hubs in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium and Italy1. Lufthansa's summer 2026 plan also added new long haul routes from Frankfurt, extended services from Munich, and cut frequencies on more than 50 feeder routes while discontinuing selected services from spring 20262. It also planned near-term frequency increases to Singapore, Cape Town, Riyadh and Bangkok amid demand3.

Italia Trasporto Aereo (ITA Airways) completed (31-Mar-2026) its integration into Star Alliance, becoming the alliance's 26th member. ITA Airways will be fully connected into the alliance's global network from 01-Apr-2026, linking Rome Fiumicino Airport and Milan Linate Airport with over 1150 destinations. Abra Group reported (31-Mar-2026) the following operational highlights for GOL in 2025:

  • Domestic growth driven by a "successful redeployment of GOL's grounded fleet and the development of underserved areas where GOL is the main carrier";
  • Expanded network to 217 routes across 84 destinations in 13 countries;
  • Announced up to five A330s to be integrated into the LCC's fleet in 2026;

  • avianca:

Jazeera Airways announced (23-Mar-2026) plans to commence twice weekly service connecting Kuwait to Lahore via Al Qaisumah-Hafar Al Batin Airport on 29-Mar-2026. As previously reported by CAPA, the LCC temporarily shifted operations to Al Qaisumah-Hafar Al Batin Airport in Saudi Arabia, effective from 11-Mar-2026, following the temporary suspension of operations at Kuwait International Airport for safety reasons. Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI) CEO Simon Hickey welcomed (25-Mar-2026) Singapore Airlines plans to commence daily Singapore-Western Sydney service from Nov-2026, stating: "Not only will WSI increase aviation capacity in the Sydney basin, giving travelling more choice and flexibility on when, where and how they choose to fly - our 24-hour services will unlock new routes with Singapore Airlines for everyone across Greater Sydney to enjoy". Singapore Airlines planned to begin daily Singapore–Western Sydney International Airport services from 23-Nov-2026 using a 303-seat A350-900, complementing its four times daily Singapore–Sydney Kingsford Smith operation, with the late-night departure bank supporting connections via Changi to more than 130 destinations, according to SIA senior VP marketing planning Dai Haoyu1. Australia’s Minister for Infrastructure Catherine King said airlines were likely to retain most capacity at curfew-constrained Kingsford Smith while using Western Sydney for late-night flights, citing the new airport’s 24/7 availability and Sydney’s demand pressures2.
