Prose & Pages: African American History Over Coffee featuring Author Sherman Pyatt In-Person
Join us for an introspective conversation featuring Author Sherman Pyatt discussing the spiritual and communal aspects of Gullah culture as a way of life for the African American family within his debut novel, Standing in the Gap. Pyatt will be in conversation with Recording Artist Quiana Parler of the two-time Grammy winning group Ranky Tanky, whose jazz-influenced interpretations of traditional Gullah music preserves the distinctive rhythms, dialects, and melodies of Gullah with modern instruments and jazz sensibilities. Books will be available for purchase. Co-sponsored by Turning Page Bookshop.
