I have *lots* of favorite fannish memories, but I'm going to limit it to two:
My first con ever, Z-Con in Chicago, 2007 -- I got to travel with sassyinkpen and creedcascade, and got to meet arouette, sara_merry99, and andeincascade!! It was an amazing time, and I cried and cried when it was time to say goodbye.
The other one that I'll mention was meeting the darling little_tristan the first time in 2010. We had a wonderful time, when it would have been enough just to travel that far just to meet face to face. And again, I cried and cried when it was time to go.
That kind of makes me sound like a crybaby, or that I cry a *lot*, but really, getting home and being able to chat online with the friends that I just said goodbye to, and knowing that we'll see each other again has been a huge comfort to me, so goodbyes have gotten a little easier each time.
Heaven knows I need plenty of help in general, but my request for help is that I need some ficlet ideas! I write almost exclusively in Riptide, of course, but I've also taken a stab at Big Bang Theory, so those ideas are welcome, too.

Spoilers here for my favorite Riptide episode, "Boz Busters" -- the fact that it's my favorite should not be a surprise to anybody who has read my LJ. :-)
Well, I've already talked about little_tristan, who created a series of fics based on a pairing in Riptide that nobody had ever thought of before, and wrote it beautifully,
so I'll tell you about sara_merry99 and andeincascade, who created a fandom built around the bull riding circuit, and the gorgeous men (in multi-colored leather chaps) who ride (original characters, so as not to resort to real-person-fic). Talk about creative and cool!

Day 7: In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts.
1. I'd love a Riptide fic where Murray is a patient in the hospital and witnesses a murder, but the staff tells Nick & Cody that it's just the medications he's on that make him think that, and they believe it. At least until they realize that Murray really is in a lot of trouble unless they can get to him in time. (Gen or slash, but if it's slash, I'd like Murray to be part of their threesome.)
2. I'd love an animated Big Bang Theory icon from season one, episode two, The Big Bran Hypothesis, where Sheldon & Leonard clean Penny's apartment (while she's asleep!). At one point, Sheldon is trying to explain it to Penny, and Leonard, overhearing, throws up his arms in shock and dismay, and then puts his face in his hands. I'd love that animated with a black OMG WTF! screen.
3. I'd love an animated Riptide userpic, from the shot near the end of "Wedding Bell Blues", where all three guys in tux (Murray in sweater instead of tux jacket) laughing together.
Yes, it's still the same day as I posted about Day One, but I want to keep up with the challenge -- and just let me say here, as the mods of this challenge have said, the more the merrier! Please join in, you're all welcome.
And don't worry about being shy about day one -- if I can put myself out there like this, so can you!
So, DAY TWO:
In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create. Drop a link to your post in the comments. See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom and maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate them.
Even if little_tristan wasn't one of my best friends, I would still be loudly tooting the horn for most everything she has ever written, fannish or not, she's just that good. But the series that I'm going to recommend is likely my favorite of her work. In the icon above, you see Murray and Lt. Quinlan, the police lieutenant who was always looking to kick the guy's (singular & collectively) asses. But in her Catbread series, we see another angle to the lieutenant, one that I never would have suspected was there. She makes it believable, lovely, and HOT. the CATBREAD series
Another of my very good friends in the Riptide fandom (and outside of fandom, as well) is arouette, who holds the honor of being the person who introduced me to slash (with this very fic)! Not that she was entirely comfortable with having the honor of explaining to a naive and shy and general "good girl" why I might not be comfortable reading one of her fics. "Nick and Murray are dating," she told me in an email. I was still interested, and intrigued. "They do more on a first date than you might be comfortable with," she said, which made me even more intrigued. When she told me "there is *sex*", and I still wanted to read it, she emailed me a link, and then (I was told later) huddled nervously with her beta, wondering if she was going to send a young fangirl screaming into the night. Luckily and happily for both of us, when I was done reading, one of my first questions was "is there a sequel?" Luckily and happily for me, and other fannish folks, yes, there is. (Do read the warnings, this is a BDSM fic, but as vanilla as I am, I loved this fic and obviously, still do.) With Gentle Sway
I was glad to read the wide scope that the mods of this challenge have given to describe fanworks -- I've always thought it was some kind of artwork to do screencaps and commentary, and in my opinion, the best of those in the Riptide fandom were done by sara_merry99 here: Screencaps, Riptide and other fandoms

As cold as it is outside right now, I'm in the mood for a story about the heat of California, which is where the Riptide guys live. Therefore, I give you a fic I wrote for the Small Fandom Fest one year: Heat
The second recommendation has a similar title, but a different side of things, and I did the same thing as a kid that Murray remembers doing in this story: Warmth
My friends would insist that I also post one of my Riptide songvids, too, and as this vid hasn't had too many views on YouTube, is humorous, AND it's done using a (Tom Lehrer) song that all of us slashers could go along with, I give you: SMUT!
