If you were expecting to see some progressed versions of both the Doctor and the Master, I’m afraid you will be disappointed.
However, if you have access to Spotify and want to hear my dulcet tones narrating the first chapter of the book wot I wrote, then you’re in the right place!
Just follow the link, pour yourself the tipple of your choice and marvel at how crap I am at trying to do the character’s voices. (Not sure how Mr. Beamish ended up sounding like George Formby…)
So, now that Forgotten Heroes has been put to bed for another year, what is on offer on the buffet in the coming months?
Well, as I have now based and given the figures their undercoat, I thought it was about time (pun intended) that the remaining Doctors and Masters got a lick of paint.
So, this first post will show the current state of each figure, so at least we all know where I’m starting from.
The 1st to the 3rd Doctors (Hartnell, Troughton & Pertwee) with the 3rd obviously finished. First two are Black Tree Design, 3rd is Crooked Dice.
4th to 6th (Baker, Davison & 2nd Baker). Some work done on the first two, all Black Tree Design.
7th to 9th (McCoy, McGann & Ecclestone). Black Tree Design, Artizan Designs and Heresy Miniatures. 8th is finished, the rest need work.
10th to 12th (Tennant, Smith & Capaldi). First two are Heresy Miniatures, 12th is Crooked Dice.
I do have Heresy Miniatures version of the War Doctor, but whilst assembled, he’s not based yet.
But you can’t really have multiple incarnations of the Doctor without a few versions of his arch-nemesis, the Master…
Now, my numbering for the Master is based on recognisable actors portraying him/her, so decayed/zombie/bin-bag Master doesn’t count.
So, 1st and 2nd Masters (Delgado & Ainley). First is Black Tree Design, second is a North Star miniature, from their Robin Hood range, which is unfortunately no longer available.
The 3rd Master is Eric Roberts, which I will be getting from Black Tree Design, and the above Crooked Dice figure I will be repainting as the 4th Master, as portrayed by Derek Jacobi.
The 5th Master is John Simm, which I’ll be getting from Heresy, and the above Bad Squiddo miniature (which is a representation of Miss Ives from Penny Dreadful) will be the 6th and first female incarnation of the Master, also known as Missy, once I’ve repainted her.
Finally, I’ve rethought which figures I want to use as MY versions of both the 13th Doctor and 7th Master, as I wasn’t happy with my initial choices.
As I consider the entirety of the Chibnall era of Doctor Who as a fever dream brought on by the consumption of Janis thorn-laced jellybabies, I can do as I like with the 13th Doctor and their adventures.
So, these will be MY 13th Doctor and MY 7th Master;
Left is Tangent Miniatures’ Time Rider, which will be MY 13th Doctor and Crooked Dice’s Lionel, which will be MY version of the 7th Master. Not decided if I will repaint him or not yet…
So, expect semi-regular updates on my progress and struggles to replicate the 7th Doctor’s outfit…
