Mandate
At the Centre for Indigenous Support and Community Engagement (CISCE) we foster a welcoming environment where Indigenous students, staff and faculty and the broader Carleton community can learn, grow and connect. We create culturally-grounded and safe spaces for dialogue and learning, guided by Indigenous ways of knowing and being.
Our work focuses on nurturing a strong sense of belonging for Indigenous students while offering education, resources and training that deepen understanding of Indigenous histories, worldviews and contemporary experiences.
Our work is guided by a three-part mandate:
- Supporting Indigenous Students
- Supporting Indigenous Policy and Program Development
- Supporting the Carleton Community through Professional Development Opportunities, such as consultations, mediations, and facilitated learning sessions
All of our work is rooted in ancestral teachings and in respect for the Algonquin Nation, on whose unceded and unsurrendered territory the Carleton campus is located.
