This paper aims to analyze the challenges of international migration and asylum in the European Union but it doesn’t intend to analyze alternative solutions.
Bu nedenle, soykırım iddialarının, varsayılan veya öğretilenlerle değil, akıl ve bilimsel verilerle ortaya çıkarılması bir insanlık görevidir.
Keywords: Turkey, Europeanization, European Union, enlargement, Euro-scepticism, secularism, identity
This research paper has two major sections. The first section examines the democracy and participation theories and the link between the two. This section tries to answer questions such as “what is participation, why is participation important, how can we measure participation?”. The second section analysis the EU’s consistently declining voter turnout by using the findings in the first section to determine the probable impact of voter turnout on European democracy.
Although some scholars argue that national identity in policy (here foreign policy) is not very clear and shouldn’t be exaggerated. Theoretically the state is an open system therefore there is a correlation between national identity and foreign policy and even international affairs may be hindered by historical facts, identities and narratives.
