Caudillismo has been a dominant cultural manifestation within Latin nations. It is grounded in fundamental value premises of Hispanic culture, derived from traditional Spain. Much has been written about how caudillismo has impacted in the political sphere, but little research has been done to assess its impact in the world of commerce and, specifically, as a model for leadership in business. This study created a literature review that highlights the fundamental value orientations and cultural dimensions of caudillismo in order to assess its worth as a model for leadership in the business world. Recommendations are made, based on this critical assessment, and suggestions are provided for future research.

This is an extremely ambitious book, generous with wonderful illustrations, that attempts to tell the long story of Chinese immigration to Thailand and the impact of one of the largest and most influential diasporas in recent history. Indeed, the Thai-Chinese have made a tremendous contribution to Thailand, particularly in the business world where their approximately 14% of the country's population (more directly-about fifty ethnic Chinese families) controls 80% to 90% of the overall market capitalization of the country, 90% of its manufacturing section, 50% of the banking and financial services sectors (including the four largest private banks) and about 80% of the companies listed in the Thai stock market (Haley,. The five top billionaires in Thailand have Chinese blood as well as 17 former prime ministers and at least one prior king. The authors, who are acknowledged scholars of the Thai-Chinese community, structured the book as parallel chronologies between Chinese dynasties and Thai kingdoms, beginning with the Ayudhya kingdom (1351 to 1767). The two histories are intertwined throughout by successive waves of Chinese immigration that covered all the socioeconomic strata. This narrative is reinforced throughout the book with a series of individual or family stories, some ―rags to riches‖ (Thai version is ―mat to riches‖) of immigrants who rose to some level of prominence. The immense work conducted by the authors is highly laudable. However, the structure of the book itself is problematic in two ways. First, there are disparities as to time periods. Over 140 pages are taken up with the period prior to 1900 when the immigration numbers and impact was less while only 21 pages are devoted to the period of 1975 and beyond when the impact was greatest and most profound in terms of cultural impact, dominance in market capitalization, media influence, and the development of the business environment in Thai urban centers. Also, problematic is the actual infusion of the individual or family stories throughout the book which unintentionally served to disrupt the historical narrative rather than reinforce it. Another questionable aspect of the book is its methodological approach. Since it purports to focus on the evolutionary development of an ethnic subculture within Thailand, it would seem logical to apply an ethnologically based inquiry within the context of social history. The social history approach, an approach that has become mainstream historiography with its own investigative techniques and analytical tools, allows for a better understanding of the dynamics at the street level; the hushed voice of the common man becomes audible and there arises a richer understanding of history than the top-down orientation and elitist-focused

Applying an inductive approach within a research strategy of grounded theory, this study sought to determine the key factors that would cause undergraduate business students at an international university to continue their higher education in that school's graduate business degree (MBA) program. Anonymous questionnaires, consisting of closed and open-ended questions, were self-administered by 273 undergraduate business students. The conclusion drawn by this study is that the international character of the university, familiarization by existing students, and its geographical location were key factors as to whether to consider enrollment in the institution's MBA program. The most significant factor of an international environment, and all that that entails, suggests a prominent and, perhaps, the defining feature in the strategic development of the branding for this international program.

This is examination of the impact of culture on knowledge transfer within the field of teaching publication administration. A comparative cultural study was conducted between the United States and Thailand to determine pedagogical implications.

This book is more substantive than the author’s prior work, Future Asia: The New Gold Rush in the East (2012), which was previously read by this reviewer. Though the material is scholarly, it is also lively and straightforward with well-craftedexplanations within macroeconomic discussions that also incorporate social andpolitical contexts. This is possible because the author is an experienced, Asian-based
economist with ample work experience in economic development projects throughout Asia and other parts of the world. The book was structured into 16 chapters (country focusedor thematic) with 21 easy-to-understand charts to summarize key points.

This book can be appreciated for its timeliness as many countries in Asia are shifting from or moving beyond manufacturing into the service economy. The intention of the editors was to provide a collection of short and long real case studies to assist academicians and students in exploring service operations and services marketing within the emerging economies of Asia. The editors structured this case study book into three subject areas: 1) service experience and co-creation, 2) service branding and service scapes, and 3) transformative services.

The focus of this book is to explore why agents of corporate governance engage in corporate social action (hereafter “CSA”). CSA is broadly defined by the editors, with a utilitarian focus, as “corporate actions that aim at furthering the social good” (p.1). The nexus between a company’s managerial policies and practice and the firm’s practice of CSA is examined from different perspectives within the three sections (ten
chapters in total) that constitute this work.

The incoming Trump administration has proposed lowering the U.S. corporate income from 35% to 15% in order to stimulate the economy and create more American jobs. The U.S. marginal tax rate of 38.9% (a combination of the federal tax rate of 35% and the average tax rate among the fifty states) is the third highest in the world after the United Arab Emirates' rate of 55% and Puerto Rico's rate of 39% (the island is not actually a country but has commonwealth status within the U.S.). According to a 2016 report by the Tax Foundation, the American marginal corporate tax rate is 16.4 percentage points higher than the worldwide average (188 countries) of 22.5%. A plurality (43) of the 188 countries examined had corporate income tax rates in the range of 25% to 30%. The Effects of Cutting Taxes The benefits of lowering the corporate tax rate vastly outweigh the costs. The incoming Trump administration wants to bring back an estimated $2.5 trillion in foreign earnings by American corporations that remain untaxed until they are repatriated to the U.S. This repatriation would provide revenue to the federal government, which currently maintains an annual budget deficit of almost $600 billion, but more importantly this flow of capitalization will allow for badly needed private sector infrastructure development as well as for research & development. The U.S. is in need of long­term infrastructure development in both the public and private sectors in the area of $17 trillion (equivalent to the country's gross domestic product – GDP – minus its shadow elements). The lowering of the corporate tax rate will provide much needed debt­free capitalization, new jobs (particularly in the high tech industry), and new tax revenue. The U.S. government's General Accountability Office reported in March of 2016 that at least two­thirds of all active U.S. corporations generate no federal income tax liability. Therefore, the lowering of the current corporate tax rate will have a much more direct impact on overseas foreign earnings and the consequential generation of tax revenue from that source. In addition, the creation of new jobs will add to the tax coffers by way of increases in personal income tax and payroll tax (e.g., social security & Medicare) revenues. Correspondingly, the pressure on unemployment benefits and other social program expenditures will go down. Look at Ireland

The primary objective of this study was to explore the relationships between two work-related factors (person-environment fit and job security) and organizational commitment among Millennial employees in Thailand. Moreover, the study investigated the moderating role of job satisfaction and its influence on those relationships. A cross-sectional survey was distributed to Millennial employees across thirteen companies located in Bangkok, Thailand where a total of 400 responses were obtained. Correlational analysis revealed significant positive relationships between person-environment fit, job security, and organizational commitment. Amongst the predictors of organizational commitment, a regression analysis indicated job satisfaction as the strongest predictor variable and person-environment fit as the weakest. Job satisfaction as a moderator variable enhanced the influence of work-related factors. The results of ANOVA testing and a series of t-tests showed that among the demographic variables – age, marital status, job level, and tenure have a significant relation to the perception of person-environment fit and job security.

The past ten years has witnessed a remarkable transformation in the study of logistics as logistical processes have evolved from being seen as faddish or esoteric into a subject matter of increasing importance and focus within businesses. The transformation has manifested itself, in part, in the proliferation of professional certifications in supply chain management as well as many magazines and journals addressing that subject. In the business world, executive positions such as Supply Chain President and Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO) have been introduced to deal with logistical considerations.
