This work is dedicated to the economic scheduling of the required electric stations in the upcomi... more This work is dedicated to the economic scheduling of the required electric stations in the upcoming 10-year long-term plan. The calculation of the required electric stations is carried out by estimating the yearly consumption of electricity over a long-time plan and then determining the required number of stations. The aim is to minimize the total establishing and operating costs of the stations based on a mathematical programming model with nonlinear objective function and integer decision variables. The introduced model is applied for a real practical case study to conclude the number of yearly constructed stations over a long-term plan in the electricity sector in Jeddah City, Saudi Arabia. The current planning method is based only on intuition by constructing the same number of required stations in each year without searching for better solutions. But the question is always raised by the decision maker: What happens to this optimal solution when changes due to dynamic situations occur and /or due to inaccurate estimation of the system parameters. This paper presents a computer FORTRAN program solving the practical transportation problem considering possible variations of its parameters both in the objective function and in the constraints. This program is based on theoritical results obtained in another paper written by the same authors that solves this problem directly on the transportation matrix [1]. These results can be used in many practical engineering applicationsin the distribution of spare parts, raw materials, and final products. As an example, the program was used for solving the distribution of final products from different stores to the individual governorate in Egypt with the objective to minimize the total transportation cost.

Inereasing the number of speeds improves the vehicle's dynamic performance which is expected to be optimal with steplesscontinuously variable speed drive. However, for a fixed number of speeds, selection of individual gear ratios plays an important role in improving the vehicle's dynamic performance. Selection can be done according to various mathematical progressions such as: arithmatic, harmonic, geometric with constant and increasing roots.

This article proposes a new problem which is called the Stochastic Travelling Advisor Problem (ST... more This article proposes a new problem which is called the Stochastic Travelling Advisor Problem (STAP) in network optimization, and it is defined for an advisory group who wants to choose a subset of candidate workplaces comprising the most profitable route within the time limit of day working hours. A nonlinear binary mathematical model is formulated and a real application case study in the occupational health and safety field is presented. The problem has a stochastic nature in travelling and advising times since the deterministic models are not appropriate for such real-life problems. The STAP is handled by proposing suitable probability distributions for the time parameters and simulating the problem under such conditions. Moreover, customers are becoming more demanding and meeting their expectations represents an increasing challenge. TPC are used in various communication and networks hardware applications; their manufacturing facilities face many challenges through the many phases of their product life cycle including various product configurations with different equipment settings, different product flows and work in process (WIP) space limitations. The quest for internal efficiency and external effectiveness mandates that companies have to align their internal settings and resources with external requirements/orders, or in other words, significant factors must be identified prior to manufacturing process. Simulation, as one of the most flexible and powerful tools which provides a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing process variations, is increasingly aiding management and production team's decisions. An IDEF0 model in conjunction with a simulation model and a design of experiments (DOE) have been developed to characterize the Twisted-Pair Cable (TPC) production system and examine various production setting scenarios aiming to get the best product flow time.
