U.N. returns Bombs found to terrorists, Kerry rewards Palestine with our bucks

Here we have the latest from one of the “valley Girls” Marie Harf, State Department spokesperson. Bottom line, Lurch AKA John Kerry hands out our bucks to the same agency that is returning rockets it found in Palestine schools back to the terrorists, but not to worry, Lurch managed to fly into Israel even though the FAA banned flights. So the squeeze is on. Israel can’t last long without the airport open, and apparently we will help fill the coffers of Hamas. UNRWA arms the terrorists. The screws tighten on Israel.

WASHINGTON — The State Department defended Secretary of State John Kerry’s decision to grant $15 million in humanitarian aid to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNWRA), even as the organization confirmed the discovery of additional rockets stored in one of its Gaza schools. Critics in Washington, however, blasted the secretary’s decision to include UNRWA as a recipient of part of a $47 million humanitarian package designed to aid Gazan civilians. […]

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a senior official at a Washington pro-Israel organization described the announcement of funding for UNRWA as “a bewildering decision.” UNRWA announced last week an effort to raise $60 million in emergency aid to Gaza, one-quarter of which would be covered by the US contribution.

“UNRWA is objectively on the side of Hamas,” the official argued. “They give Hamas money, they do press work on behalf of Hamas, and as of this week they’re literally arming Hamas. Our Arab and Israeli allies all want Hamas and its supporters weakened. It’s very strange that the State Department would rush in, right when we’re asking the region to trust us on Iran, and functionally throw money at a terror organization that Iran has done so much to build up over the years.”

But State Department Deputy Spokeswoman Marie Harf said that the organization was a legitimate recipient for US aid, arguing that “it is an important organization.”

“So you don’t — you don’t believe that this amounts to aiding and abetting of” Hamas, a reporter asked.

“I would certainly not say that,” Harf said.

UNRWA maintains that it handed the missiles over to “local authorities” in Gaza that were not affiliated with Hamas. However, this is unlikely since the terror group is in control of all forces in Gaza.

State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf defended a United Nations agency that was caught giving Hamas rockets back to the terror group on two separate occasions after they were discovered in the agency’s schools in Gaza.

The U.N.’s Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which operates several schools in Gaza, admitted earlier this week that it had found Hamas rockets stored in two of its schools. On both occasions, UNRWA gave the rockets over to local authorities, who is most cases operate in tandem with Hamas.

The incident has drawn fierce backlash from international observers, though Foggy Bottom sought Tuesday to deflect blame from UNRWA.

Obama wants to increase contributions to United Nations by 33 percent

What does a law mean anyway? In 1994 President Clinton signed a law capping the U.S. contributions for peace keeping. But what the heck. With good old Samantha Power at the U.N., what does a law mean anyway. By the way, we  are over $17 trillion in debt. Keep this oldie moldie post in mind:  192 Countries exist in the world. We give Aid to 150 March 14, 2011

There are 192 countries in the world. We give out Aid to 150 of them. This doesn’t include that we have 120 military installations world-wide with hundreds of thousands of troops in an attempt to keep the world at relative peace. This is just what finished the Roman Empire. Can we  not  learn from History? Are we doomed to repeat it?

As you compute your taxes this year, remember how much of your hard-earned money is being given to foreign countries.

That’s us dishing-out an allowance to
over 78% of the nations in existence…

Via CNS News:

When U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power testifies before a House Appropriations subcommittee on Wednesday, the panel will consider a budget request for international organizations that is 33 percent bigger than last year’s, including a 43 percent hike in U.S. contributions to peacekeeping missions.

The administration’s fiscal year 2015 budget request for the U.N. and other organizations is $4.036 billion, up from $3.031 billion in FY2014. For contributions to peacekeeping missions, it is asking for $2.518 billion, up from $1.765 last year.

The $2.518 billion for peacekeeping amounts to 28.36 percent of the U.N.’s total peacekeeping budget. The U.S. also provides 22 percent of the separate U.N. operating budget. The U.N. has 193 member states.

According to Heritage Foundation scholar Brett Schaefer, President Clinton in 1994 signed a law setting a 25 percent cap on U.S. contributions for U.N. peacekeeping, which at the time were running at around 30 percent.

Air Conditoners same as ‘cash for clunkers’ without the cash

Ever hear of the Montreal Protocol? While the intentions to protect the earth’s Ozone layer seemed reasonable at the time, the fact is that the so called “adjustments”  to the original “protocol” have not been embraced or complied with by much of the world.

The Montreal Protocol includes a unique adjustment provision that enables the Parties to the Protocol to respond quickly to new scientific information and agree to accelerate the reductions required on chemicals already covered by the Protocol. These adjustments are then automatically applicable to all countries that ratified the Protocol. Since its initial adoption, the Montreal Protocol has been adjusted five times. Specifically, the Second, Fourth, Seventh, Ninth, Eleventh and Nineteenth Meetings of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol. From the United Nations

There are strict limits on how much HCFC-22, used in older air-conditioners can be imported or sold in the United States by American manufacturers. in 2009, Carlos Garcia, the Marcone vice president was arrested for importing the gas. So while China India and everyone else uses this cheap chemical, the United States once again hog ties itself, forcing us to buy new air conditioners. Sound familiar?  Here we go:

Although it has been illegal to sell new air-conditioners containing HCFC-22 in the United States since 2010, vast quantities of the gas are still needed to service old machines. Importing HCFC-22 without the needed approvals, as Marcone did, violates international treaties and United States law and regulations.

On June 26, Mr. Garcia was sentenced to 13 months in federal prison.

The dwindling supply has led to pronounced spikes in price. What once cost retailers like Marcone $55 a canister was by 2009 going for $140 in the United States. By reducing the supply of the coolant and encouraging prices to rise, the United States government hoped to force manufacturers and consumers to scrap old machines and invest in more environmentally friendly, if more expensive, alternatives. But it has not worked out that way, especially in recessionary times when people hang on to old appliances and search for cheap shortcuts.

In the meantime, the price of legitimately obtained gas has been rising in the United States and throughout Europe. That is because governments of industrialized nations, to comply with the ozone treaty known as the Montreal Protocol, restrict the use of the environmentally damaging gas in various ways. In the United States, the Environmental Protection Agency requires that companies obtain a license to make, sell or buy specific amounts of HCFC-22, with such “allowances” decreasing year by year.

Much of the global air-conditioning industry relies on the gas the way the auto industry does on gasoline. But while oil is getting harder to find and more expensive, HCFC-22 is becoming more abundant and remaining cheap on the global market  Full story at theNew York Tines

UNESCO pleads for U.S. to reinstate funding -UPDATE

Every now and then, a story comes along that gets little attention, but bugs the hell out of the writer of a blog. Here is one. Thankfully, legislation passed years ago required that we de-fund any agency  “which accords the Palestine Liberation Organization the same standing as member states.”. So here is the drill. We do this for any and all aid to anyone. You want our stash? Well get on board with the U.S. program. No more biting the hand that feeds you.

But wait: UPDATE, I knew it was too good to be true. Our Dictator announces he will find a way around… of course:

“President Obama has made strong multilateral engagement across the UN system – including at UNESCO – a top priority and a core aspect of U.S. foreign policy,” he told the General Conference shortly after it had voted by a large margin to admit “Palestine” as a full member.

“The United States remains deeply committed to UNESCO and its noble mission to build peace in the minds of men and women,” Killion added. “Despite the challenges ahead, we pledge to continue our efforts to find ways to support and strengthen the important work of this vital organization.” CNS News: Obama remains deeply committed to UNESCO despite vote to admit Palestine

PARIS – The head of UNESCO is pleading with the U.S. to reinstate funding cut off after the agency granted membership to Palestine.

Director-General Irina Bokova warned in a statement Wednesday that the move jeopardizes programs “in America’s core interests,” such as those fostering a free media in nascent Mideast democracies. Right, bringing in Sharia law and the Muslim folks that would just as soon do us in as look at us.

U.S. cuts UNESCO funding after Palestinian vote

She said that without U.S. support, “it will be impossible for us to maintain our current level of activity.”

On Monday, the members of the U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization voted to welcome Palestine. CBS News

From: U.N. grants full membership to Palestine

“Palestinian membership as a state in UNESCO triggers longstanding legislative restrictions, which will compel the United States to refrain from making contributions to UNESCO,” U.S. State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said within hours of the vote.

The United States’ annual contribution of some $70 million accounts for nearly one-fourth of UNESCO’s total budget.

The funding cut is mandated by legislation from the 1990s that denies U.S. funding to any U.N. agency “which accords the Palestine Liberation Organization the same standing as member states.”

The size of the vote in favor provides a good indication of the reception the Palestinian Authority (P.A.) application can expect at other agencies.

In the UNESCO vote, the measure needed a two-thirds majority to pass. With 173 members of the total 194 voting on the day, the required threshold was 81 votes. The bid received 107, with only 14 countries opposed, and another 52 abstaining. More at CNS News

U.N. UNESCO grants full membership to Palestine UPDATE

UPDATE: So here is a surprise. The U.S. does respond. Apparently there was legislation that required this response. Looks like Obama did not want to go this one alone by decree.  Full story Before its news .Maybe this is thebeginning of the end of the U.N.?

Oh yes, Ambassador Susan Rice, is back in the news. An anti-Semite, one can be sure she is working behind the scenes to insure the security of Israel. Here we go, then a bit of History on our gal Susan.

The United Nations’ cultural agency granted the Palestinians full membership on Monday, a step forward in their long-running efforts to achieve recognition before the world as an independent state

“Today’s victory at UNESCO is the beginning of a road that is difficult, but will lead to the freedom of our land and people from occupation,” Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad Malki said. “Palestine has the right to a place on the map.”

Legislation stipulates that the U.S. can cut off funding to any United Nations agency that accepts Palestinians as a member. Don’t hold your breath on this one.

Today’s vote to grant Palestinian membership in UNESCO is no substitute for direct negotiations, but it is deeply damaging to UNESCO,” said Ambassador Susan Rice. Reuters Sure Susan, direct negotiations.

[]Susan Rice, U.N. Ambassador
This shameful United Nations ambassador, with her most recent anti-Israel tirade, gashed open an already-raw-wound in Obama administration U.S. Israeli relations.
…But then Rice opened her mouth, and as I write, is delivering a truly foul speech in which she flatly declares that “we reject in the strongest terms the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlement activity,” and declares that such activity is, essentially, the cause for “corroded hopes” in the Middle East. She condemned “the folly and legitimacy” of continued settlement activity.

Why didn’t Susan Rice just get up and say, “I’m being forced to veto this condemnation of Israel because the Israel Lobby controls D.C., I’m bitterly resentful about it, and Stephen Walt will soon be explaining why”? It would have been less damaging than the spectacle we just witnessed, wherein, as John pointed out, the American ambassador to the United Nations telegraphed — through words, body language, and her anti-Israel tantrum — that she didn’t support the policy she was implementing on behalf of the president.

Rice, who now purports to be so concerned about the “human rights violations” committed by Muammar Gaddafi in putting down a revolution, is behind the horrific appointment of Iran to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. This despite such facts as Iran is a country whose prison guards rape female inmates before executing them because it is illegal under shariah law to kill a virgin.

Hilliary Clinton: “The U.N. the single most important global institution”

In a speech before the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) on Wednesday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton praised the work of the United Nations and said it is “the single most important global institution

Comment from BTeacher99: Yes, the United Nations is just what we need. The UN that chose to appoint Iran to the UN Commission for Women’s Rights and to punish homeschool families in Botswana? The UN claims it knows what’s best; for that reason only Mrs. Clinton might be correct.  The UN may be “the single most important global institution” that seems to have as a key component the intent to destroy home and family and eventually freedom as we know it.

KCPatriot: The U.N. has been and is working on treaties to ban private gun ownership. Those efforts in and of themselves should end our participation and U.S. support of the U.N. as those goals directly oppose our Constitution and our God given rights. Those rights are not government provided revocable privileges as some might think.

The scam of global warming and another U.N. proposed treaty is backed by flawed “science”. The U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change which proposes such measures for the treaty received a stunning rebuke by InterAcademy Council, an independent association of the best scientists and engineers worldwide which slammed the IPCC for its poor practices. That global warming treaty as proposed in Copenhagen included a one world socialist government without representation, again in opposition to our Constitution. And they are not done trying to impose that government and its layers of unrepresented taxes, fees, wealth redistribution, and control.

New U.N. Report Claims that the United States owes $45 Trillion in “climate debt”

You don’t need to attend the United Nations climate change conference to know what’s really going on.

Ignoring the fallacies behind the “science” of man-made global warming, a new U.N. report on “climate justice” says the U.S. and other countries owe $24 trillion in “climate debt” to the rest of the world.

The report, “Climate Justice for a Changing Planet,” argues that the United States is “historically the largest global emitter” of greenhouse gas emissions and therefore has the biggest “debt” to pay. But another U.N. report puts the figure at $45 trillion. President Obama seems prepared to accept this bogus claim by attending the United Nations conference on December 18.

The U.S. failure to pay, argues leftist Canadian writer Naomi Klein, has already produced “climate rage” and a “global movement for climate justice” led by Bolivia’s socialist President Evo Morales. The implication is that if the U.S. doesn’t pay up, protests and even violence could break out.

In a statement, the Morales regime declared that “What we call for is full payment of the debt owed to us by developed countries for threatening the integrity of the Earth’s climate system, for over-consuming a shared resource that belongs fairly and equally to all people, and for maintaining lifestyles that continue to threaten the lives and livelihoods of the poor majority of the planet’s population.”

In other words, Americans are supposed to feel guilty over having a successful industrial economy. It is a system that has produced more wealth for more people than any in human history.

A detailed proposal from Bolivia says “a wealthy minority,” presumably in the U.S. and other “rich” nations, “has already over‐consumed a considerable amount of environmental space,” thus “denying it to the poorer majority who needs it in the course of their development.”

Naomi Klein describes the proposed payments as “reparations.” ………

The UN and Obama Administration’s Refusal to Investigate “Climategate”

The U.N.’s decision this week to investigate whether some of its climate change research had been manipulated constitutes a “direct rebuke” of the Obama administration, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said Friday.

The White House’s unwillingness to open a similar inquiry could now only be characterized as “a sad abdication of their responsibility to ensure that U.S. policies are not driven by corrupted science and data,” the congressman added.

“The very integrity of the report that the Obama administration has predicated much of its climate change policy has been called into question and it is unconscionable that this administration and Congress is willing to abdicate responsibility of uncovering the truth to the United Nations,” explained Issa, the ranking member on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

Motivating Issa’s calls for a probe into climate change research, and the U.N.’s decision to launch one, was the publication last month of thousands of e-mails and other documents that global warming skeptics say prove the phenomenon does not exist.

Some of those e-mails contained discussions about how to best portray data sets, among other topics. Scientists maintain their comments have been taken out of context, but those who fiercely oppose the climate change thesis argue the e-mails invalidate all the research.

The U.N. announced it would probe that data this week, mostly because some of the research in question touches on related work either completed or promoted by its own Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
But the White House has largely dismissed the litany of Republican calls to open an inquiry into that research — Issa’s included — because its top scientists contend one controversy hardly undermines decades of more reliable research on climate change.

“It is important to understand that these kinds of controversies and even accusations of bias and improper manipulation are not all that uncommon in science, in all branches of science,” said Dr. John Holdren, the president’s science adviser.

Is Obama looking out for the interests of the United States or the interests of everyone else?

Former US United Nations John Bolton tells NRO that Obama multilateralism ideals fall short in pushing for our Country’s interests.

His apologies for past administrations and decision to appease Russia over the missile defense system are continued actions of American weakness.

““The most significant point of the speech was how the president put Israel on the chopping block in a variety of references…also noteworthy, Bolton says, was how Obama highlighted “just how much of American foreign policy that he wants to run through the U.N.”
