Specifically, the study sought to answer the questions: How prevalent is the fear of on-line victimization among undergraduate students? What are the patterns of the fear of on-line victimization among undergraduate students? Data from the two universities were compared. The results indicate that there is a high prevalence of fear of online victimization among undergraduates in both universities. Among the five kinds of fears benchmarked, fear of fraudulent mails was the most expressed fear and it was more prevalent in the North West sample than in the South East sample. The study concluded that the fear of online victimization may impact negatively on the cashless Nigeria being proposed by the Central Bank of Nigeria, since online banking is one of its major components. Hence, sensitization on proper ways of utilizing ICT coupled with devising preventing strategies for self-protection while using on-line resources are recommended.

Impact of Mitomycin-C Application Time on the Scleral Mitomycin-C Concentration

The sclerae of 14 human donor eyes were used for this study. The episcleral sides of the 4 scleral quadrants of each donor eye were exposed for 0.5, 1, 3 and 5 min to round, 8 mm-diameter sponges soaked with 50 microl of 0.2 mg/ml MMC. After 40-ml irrigation with saline, a central 8-mm diameter scleral disk was punched out, homogenized and analyzed with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The scleral MMC concentrations (microg/g) after 0.5, 1, 3 and 5 min application times were 6.40 (+/-3.38), 9.02 (+/-2.40), 12.31 (+/-3.37), and 13.97 (+/-3.83). The differences of scleral MMC concentration in paired t-tests were statistically significant comparing 0.5 with 1 and 1 with 5 min application. However the effect was relatively small within the range of usual application times (1 to 5 min), and 64% of the MMC was delivered to the sclera wit...

This was done in the effort to examine the philosophy, desirability and challenges to community policing in Nigeria. It has been argued that though the current Nigeria Police Force (NPF) owes it origin to colonialism, after independence, the police under-went series of reforms and restructuring. With Nigeria becoming more complex due to increase in population, change in consumption pattern, increase in literacy, globalization, democratization, etc, astronomical increase in crimes was witnessed. In the 21 st Century Nigeria, conventional crimes were replaced with new crimes like cyber-crime, economic and financial crimes, mega corruption, terrorism, kidnapping, oil-bunkering, militancy, cattle-rustling, illegal mining, human trafficking, drugpeddling, counterfeiting, Ponzi Schemes, political brigandage, etc thereby over-stretching and over-whelming the security outfits. This reality indicates that preventing, controlling and managing crime requires community policing to compliment the conventional approach to policing used by NPF. Hence, making Nigeria secure requires a proper understanding and efficient utilization of community policing being a paradigm shift the requires community cooperation and participation.. ---
