Shadowrun Report – Monkey Business – Session 03 Delayed

Session 3 covered a ton of activity all over Seattle and is going to be broken into two parts to avoid a giant, single, wall of text.  Due to visiting In-laws, Date Night with my wife, and actual work at work, the first part is delayed.  It will post Tuesday, April 14, with Part 2 posting two days later.  That will give me enough time to write them up and perform QC on the text.  It was more fun than a barrel full of monkeys to run and was crowned “weirdest run I’ve ever played in” by Murdoc’s player.

Tangentially, I’ve also started writing some short fiction to flesh out the different districts in my Champions campaign.  That campaign is not slated to start until this summer, but I don’t have anything more specific than that as there are too many variables right now.  The short fiction will post as I have material written.  The first thing will be a Noir-ish detective piece introducing the Bricktown and Monastery Hill districts.  I have a rough outline and just need time to sit down and finish writing the story out.

Next Posting after Lunch

I needed to edit the posting before, you know, posting it, but I'm in a staff meeting right now.  I will post the next Southern Reaches adventure log after lunch (around Noon, Central time).

New SR Log Posted Later Today

My wife and I are getting back into painting miniatures after a five or six year hiatus.  Last night we went through our paints, adding distilled water to ones that dried out to see if we could save them.  Most reconstituted, but a handful were inert and will need to be replaced.

As a result of this activity, I did not get any writing done last night.  I have my notes with me and will get the next Southern Reaches adventure log written up during my lunch break and posted early this afternoon.

Tonight is The Aldelle Group, so there will likely be no post tomorrow, but Thursday should have a post and most likely Friday as well.

Tangentially, Xin's player has moved out of town due to (a lack of) work reasons and may be Skype-ing in along with Sal's player and Alys's player (the inestimable Erin Palette).  This will give me three online players and four players at the table, assuming all the local players are able to make the game.  At this rate, I may need to look into virtual tabletop software.  Three of my "local" players actually have to drive 45-60 minutes to get to the game and the same to get home.  As a result, two of the players (Tycho's and Agnes's players) have not made the game for several weeks.  If we went to a virtual table top, preferably one compatible with Hero Lab, they could make the game more often without the long drive and we could start the game earlier, even allowing time for the getting of dinner.  Something to give some thought to.

Switching Pub Dates

As it has been obvious for the last several weeks, updates are not likely to actually appear on Mondays, this week being no exception.  Therefore, I'm switching to a Tuesday/Thursday schedule to see if that is more workable.
 
I currently have two Southern Reaches sessions to write-up and the first session of Dyson's Delve with our brand new DM (as in, never ran a game before).

Monday Post Delayed

This weekend was rather busy, first with a monthly Saturday game and then all day Sunday with house cleaning prep for a monthly event at the house this coming Saturday.  As a result - not much writing done (read: none).

On the plus side, there will be two Southern Reaches this week as I ran two games of it - the regular one on Friday and a second game on Saturday when not all the players for the schedules Naze Valley Rangers game were able to make the game (due to visiting family).  I got to introduce/activate two new locales...but I'll talk about them in the actual posts.

I hope to have Friday's log written tonight and will post it tonight or tomorrow morning, depending upon when I get finished with it.

Long Story Short: No-Hurricane Job

I'm behind due to the chaos my life has been over the last week (and to some extent still is). Rather than clutter up this blog with details, just go here to read about it. It will take me a bit to catch up for writing time lost, but I will.

Wednesday Blog Delayed

Our A/C went out Monday night and the repair guy can't get to the house until Thursday, so I've been distracted by survival in Houston during the hotest part of the summer (translated: I got busy and forgot to write the thing). Tonight is the next session for Verden (at someone else's house, thank goodness), so no writing tonight. I'll work on a post at lunch tomorrow, so there should be a real post Thursday evening at the latest.

This is where having a buffer of written material would be brilliant. Sigh...
