Among various foundry techniques, the most common sand casting method is adapted for the production on industrial scale that is 5000 pot per day. All the parameters, foundry variables and cost analysis are integrated in the design factors to design an industry for this mass production. An algorithm and C++ code have been developed in which cost estimation for any desired number of pots of any dimensions can be predicted.

In this report, three incidents with their historic information, engineering causes and safety factors from material science perspective have been focused. One incident focuses devastation faced nationally by us and other include foreign list.

Phase fractions have been calculated experimentally and percentage phase fraction of ferrite and pearlite in the microstructures was determined by analyzing the processed metallurgical image.

A. Rashed. The concepts of simulation and the relation between thermodynamics and phase diagram have been demonstrated in this presentation paper. Highlighting the features available on Thermo-Calc software, some basic introductions of other softwares have also been focused here. At the end of this paper some noteworthy advantages have been showed.

Two materials, material A and material B were initially selected for the purpose and their ductile to brittle transition temperatures were experimentally determined by measuring impact energies at different temperatures. Though both of the materials show ductility at room temperatures but material B becomes brittle below minus 40 C. So material A is recommended as it has the wide range of ductile to brittle transition temperatures range. Failures cannot be prevented but the probability of happening any catastrophic failure can be reduced by using material A.

The boundary surface at x = 0 is maintained at a constant temperature f0, while the boundary surface at x = L dissipates heat by convection with a heat transfer coefficient h into an ambient at temperature T∞. Dividing the region into five equal sub regions, write the finite difference formulation of this heat conduction problem.
