Sam Lauer
Pennsylvanian by birth, Ohioan by choice -- I'm Sam. I am a 2013 & 2018 Bucknell University alumna with bachelor's and master's degrees in English Literature. My academic interests include Literary and Film Criticism, Environmental Literature and Criticism, Feminism and Queer Studies, and Postmodern American Fiction, Film, and Poetry.
I may never truly *publish* scholarly works related to queer ecocritical/ecosemiotic/ecological studies, but I'm happy to share what I've written during my two degrees here. You can, however, find my published works as film reviews with Anaphora Press, poetry from several journals, and essays with Sage Woman. In addition, I did my due diligence for academia and presented at a handful of conferences across the country.
During undergrad, I completed research with Prof. Alf Siewers (now Paul) and the Environmental Center at Bucknell with respect to the work of Susan Fenimore Cooper. In my master's program, I completed my thesis with Prof. Glynis Carr in relation to the emergence of a Queer Ecocritism and the application of such a theory into literary studies.
I am currently doing nothing of the sort. I'm in Columbus, OH these days -- getting my hands dirty literally connecting with the Earth and spending time working in my own entrepreneurial craft, doing things to celebrate and heal the spirit of the Earth. Academia no longer seems to be the stage I aim to act upon, but I hope my writings might assist you nonetheless.
