Dans cette étude, nous nous sommes intéressés à la cohérence textuelle des discours délirants. Nous avons procédé à deux expérimentations en utilisant des entretiens cliniques de type diagnostique réalisés avec trois groupes de patients (schizophrènes, paranoïaques et sujets présentant divers troubles délirants). Dans la première expérimentation, nous avons comparé les corpus non délirants aux corpus délirants chez un même patient et nous avons étudié si les phases délirantes de son discours montraient une cohérence textuelle plus importante ou moins importante que la cohérence textuelle des phases non délirantes. Cette première expérimentation nous a montré que les phases délirantes pouvaient apparaître comme davantage cohérentes que les phases non délirantes. Dans la seconde expérimentation, nous avons analysé les conditions d'usage d'un marqueur de cohérence textuelle qui est apparu comme particulièrement saillant en phase délirante : le pronom relatif. This research compares the markers of textual cohesion in delusional phases versus non delusional phases in the discourse of the same subject. We have made two experiments. In the first one we have shown that delusional phases contain as many markers of textual cohesion as non delusional phases. One of the considered markers varies in a significant manner : the use of relative pronouns increases in delusional phases. In the second experiment we have analysed the conditions of the use of relative pronouns in the delusional phases. Increased serum levels of inXammatory mediators have been associated with numerous disease states including atherosclerosis, Type II diabetes, hypertension, depression, and overall mortality. We hypothesized that a long-term exercise intervention among older adults would reduce serum inXammatory cytokines, and this reduction would be mediated, in part, by improvements in psychosocial factors and/or byadrenergic receptor mechanisms. Adults 7age 64 were randomly assigned to either an aerobic exercise treatment (CARDIO) or a Xexibility/ strength exercise treatment (FLEX) 3 days/week, 45 min/day for 10 months. A subgroup of subjects treated with non-selective 1 2 adrenergic antagonists were included to evaluate the potential role of -adrenergic receptor adaptations as mediators of an exercise-induced change in inXammation. The inXammatory mediators [C-reactive protein (CRP), IL-6, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-, and IL-18] and the psychosocial factors (depression, perceived stress, optimism, sense of coherence, and social support) were measured pre-and post-intervention. The CARDIO treatment resulted in signiWcant reductions in serum CRP, IL-6, and IL-18 compared to the FLEX treatment (signiWcant treatment £ time interaction, p < .05), whereas TNF declined in both groups (main eVect of time, p D .001). However, several psychosocial factors (depression, optimism, and sense of coherence) improved in both groups suggesting that the reduction of CRP, IL-6, and IL-18 in the CARDIO group was not mediated by improvements in psychosocial scores. With respect to the potential role of -adrenergic receptors, both CARDIO subjects treated with -adrenergic antagonists and those who were not treated with those medications demonstrated similar reductions in serum CRP, IL-6, IL-18, and TNF . In summary, we have observed that an aerobic exercise intervention can signiWcantly reduce serum inXammatory mediators, but -adrenergic receptors and psychosocial factors do not appear to be involved.

A mycological survey was carried out, for the first time, on black bean samples from the northwestern Argentinean province of Salta in the 1999 harvest season. Ten varieties of black beans were evaluated at three locations. Species of the genus Alternaria were the most prevalent component of the black bean mycoflora. Species of Fusarium, Sclerotinia, Rhizoctonia and Acremonium were also recorded. The predominant species of the genera isolated were Alternaria alternata, Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, Rhizoctonia solani, Fusarium semitectum and Acremonium strictum. An analysis of variance was applied to determine possible differences between black bean varieties. Variety FT88/519 was the most susceptible to Sclerotinia sclerotinia infection, while the variety DOR 604 was the least susceptible. As toxigenic species were recovered, Alternaria toxins, zearalenone and trichothecenes may pose a contamination risk for black bean.

Non-ionic polyethoxylated surfactants (nonylphenol polyethoxylates, alcohol polyethoxylates), their breakdown products (polyethylene glycol, polyethoxylated nonylphenol carboxylates and polyethoxylated alcohol carboxylates) and other compounds were identified and measured in various waste-water treatment samples (influent, effluent and sludge). A generic protocol involving the use of sequential solid-phase extraction (SSPE) with octadecylsilica and styrene-divinylbenzene cartridges in series and differential elution was used. Fractionated extracts were analyzed by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) using atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) in the positive and negative ionization modes. For sewage treatment plant (STP) sludge, the extraction protocol involved lyophilization of the sludge followed by sonication with MeOH-CH 2 Cl 2 (7 + 3) and final clean-up using the SSPE protocol. Limits of detection for target analytes ranging from 1.1 to 4.1 mg L 21 for water samples and from 0.11 to 0.28 mg kg 21 for sludge were achieved. The results obtained demonstrated the inefficient removal of the target analytes in physico-chemical STPs whereas their elimination factors in STPs with biological treatment reached average values of 77, 92 and 98% for alcohol polyethoxylates, nonylphenol polyethoxylates (NPEOs) and polyethylene glycols (PEGs), respectively. Quantitative elimination of coconut fatty acid diethanolamide (CDEA) surfactants in the activated sludge process occurred. In contrast, total removal of NPEOs led to the formation of persistent and toxic metabolites such as nonylphenol which was present in treated effluent as well as in sludge samples with average concentrations ranging from 15.0 to 251.2 mg L 21 and from 13.5 to 74.2 mg kg 21 , respectively. Polyethoxylated carboxylates and short chain NPEOs were also detected at similar levels in the effluents and sludges. In addition, a linear correlation between the total phenolic concentration (Total Ph) measured by the 4-aminoantipyrine method and the total concentration of nonylphenolic compounds (Total NP) measured by SSPE-LC-APCI-MS was observed.

The Tile hadronic calorimeter of the ATLAS detector has undergone extensive testing in the experimental hall since its installation in late 2005. The readout, control and calibration systems have been fully operational since 2007 and the detector has successfully collected data from the LHC single beams in 2008 and first collisions in 2009. This paper gives an overview of the Tile Calorimeter performance as measured using random triggers, calibration data, data from cosmic ray muons and single beam data. The detector operation status, noise characteristics and performance of the calibration systems are presented, as well as the validation of the timing and energy calibration carried out with minimum ionising cosmic ray muons data. The calibration systems’ precision is well below the design value of 1%. The determination of the global energy scale was performed with an uncertainty of 4%.

Infected pigs develop a strong and rapid humoral response but these initial antibodies do not confer protection and can even be harmful by mediating an antibody-dependent enhancement of disease. In contrast, development of neutralising antibodies (NAs) is delayed and generation of cell-mediated immune responses, such as PRRSV-specific interferon (IFN)-c secreting cells, is initially erratic. In spite of this, induction of strong and rapid NAs and IFN-c responses seem to be required for effective vaccination. PRRSV strongly modulates the host's immune responses. The virus inhibits key cytokines, such as IFN-a, and may induce regulatory cytokines, such as interleukin (IL)-10. Development of NAs seems to be impaired by the existence of a decoy epitope close to the main neutralisation epitope in glycoprotein 5. This ability to modulate the host immune response probably varies among strains or isolates. The genetic diversity of the virus is very high and it has been shown that this diversity can have serious implications for the development of vaccines, since the immunity induced by one strain may be only partial against a different strain, even within the same genotype. With this panorama, the development of newer and universally efficacious PRRSV vaccines is challenging, but the present state of knowledge allows optimism if collaborative efforts are undertaken in the scientific community.
