28th-Dec-2011 02:32 pm - Tattoo Artist - specific style
crayons, black sheep
Hey all, I've been looking through the tattoo tags here which have been helpful. However, I have a more specific request - I'm looking for recommendations for an artist who is skilled at doing white space/dot work tattoos. Anyone know of someone who does that style?

Thanks in advance.

Hey, a lot of you have some really useful information about getting your first tattoo here in Brisbane, so I'm hoping you'll be able to help me out too. :)

I've heard about Westside and True Love, and hopefully can get mine at either of those places. The design I want is an ambigram( under the cut) so I'm looking for some really clean lines. Placement-wise, I'm still debating. I want it in a really discrete place and vertical. I plan for it to be pretty small, maybe 3 inches more or less. I was thinking the rib area, but yeah, I've heard that can hurt a fair bit more than other places. But I figure if it doesn't take too long to do, I can deal with the pain. Is there any particular part of the rib area where it may hurt less? And if someone could give me a rough estimate of how long they think the tattoo would take that would be awesome. toastman
Hi guys - just wondering if anyone here has had any work done by High Energy Tattoo in Red Hill? I'm after a simple, black tattoo, clean lines etc. Would like to get it done soon, and High Energy is pretty close to where I live. Anyone had good/bad experiences there? A friend of mine had a beautiful coloured tattoo done there, but I don't know anyone else who has.

Thanks!

I'm after a recommendation for a tattoo parlour (or someone in particular from one) that does good work with tibetan or sanskrit. Bonus points if you've had something done yourself from there. I want to get some work done (finally), but would rather get someone who REALLY knows what they're doing with the languages.

Thanks,
Mattou
5th-Jun-2010 09:40 am - Newbie-friendly tattooists?
merchgirl
(I've checked the tags for past posts, but I didn't see this specific concern addressed)

I got a henna tattoo on my back that I really REALLY love, and I'm considering making it permanent. However, I've never had a permanent tattoo before - mainly because I have massive needlephobia. Yet for the past couple of weeks I've been swooning over this tattoo and I'm starting to seriously consider the prospect of needling myself for it.

Which tattoo places in Brisbane are friendly to newbies, and could probably handle the odd holler or tear or two? (Seriously, I shriek at blood tests. Helps get the stress out.) Would any of them be open to a "tattoo party" - mainly me inviting my friends to come along, chat, distract me, give me a hand to squeeze?

I've got photos of the original design though apparently many places don't use brown ink, something about it fading out to a reddish brown colour? That'd be perfect for me! I don't need outlines, it's all just a vine creeping up in one colour.

Also how much would be a fair price for such a design? Here it is (it's green as it's taken right after the henna was applied):

Hey Brisbane,
Does anyone know of a tattoo studio that uses vegan ink?
Bonus if you know that they will tattoo fingers.
Thanks in advance!

Where can I find a good tattoo artist in Brisbane?

I'm willing to travel just about anywhere for good quality and good service.
12th-Sep-2009 03:46 pm - Henna tattoos?
Is my heart still beating? | Izzie | GA

Much to my kid sister's dismay she's too young to get a tattoo, so she's now started in on the idea of a henna tattoo.
I know you can buy kits but I'm far from being artistic and in my opinion it's not exactly the greatest DIY idea.

Is there a place about that offers henna tattoos?

I am so going to hell
Does anyone know a good tattoo parlor? Preferably within the region between Brisbane-Gold Coast though even as far as the Sunshine Coast would be okay.

They've gotta be able to do custom work because I've designed my own tats.

Anyone know a place like that? Or any advice of places to steer clear of?

16th-Nov-2008 06:23 pm - Tattoo Cover Artists?
Hello lovely Brisnyland!

My sister is looking to have a cover tattoo on her upper arm so she feels less self-conscious when in dresses and such.

Has anyone had a quality cover done lately? Or do you know of a talented artist that definitely does perform them? She's paid a few drawing fees only to end up with no drawing - so we really are looking for someone with a good reputation at this point.

Any help greatly appreciated, any Brisbane location would be great to hear about.

Cheers!

::EDIT:: Thank you everyone for your very helpful responses! She's making a visit to True Love this afternoon and will proceed from there.

where the wild things are
I had a tattoo done yesterday at City Body Art Tattoo and Body Piercing on Elizabeth St in the City. I seriously can't say enough good things about them. The staff are lovely, the artist did an amazing job and they are reasonably priced. Definately check them out if you are looking to get a tattoo done.
9th-Nov-2006 08:52 pm - Good tattoo places?
me: ezz @ sono
Hey all.

I'm looking at getting my second tattoo this weekend - but the place I originally went to has closed down. Can anyone recommend a really great place to get a tattoo (I have my own design), that's clean, friendly and inexpensive? Preferably on the southside, although I can travel for a good place.

Any feedback - good or bad - would be fantastic.

Thanks.
