Attention Due to a lack of response in the past few weeks the Young Adult Book Drive 4 Rural Libraries will be closing on June 10th. I would like to thank everyone who helped out either by making donations, giving me advice on the website or on where to find books. If you would like to make a final donation it would be very much appreciated. We've managed to collect around 280 books and help five libraries. I am still in possession of some of the donations and will be making the final delivery after the book drive closes. Thank you so much for everything!

Take Care

Do you have used young adult books on your shelves you aren’t reading? Please consider making a donation to the YA Book Drive for Rural Libraries. I work at a library in the New York Southern Tier and have started a book drive to provide the libraries in the surrounding communities with books for their young adult collection. When libraries have tight budgets it is the teens that are left out. Please take a moment to check out the book drive’s website and browse our Amazon Wish List where you can purchase books for the YA Book Drive. Questions, comments or suggestion? Just email me at [email protected] or leave a comment below.

Thank you,
Jen

HI people. I notice you have Lillian Jackson Braun and H.G. Wells listed as interests. I've read all of LJB's "Cat Who..." series and I've been trying to get "The Cat Who Dropped a Bombshell", I think it came out yesterday but haven't been able to get my butt to a bookstore. I think H.G. Wells' "The Time Machine" is the greatest sci-fi book ever.

Peace out!

second hand fiction/anything non-junk in russian! [26 Nov 2005|09:14am]
book_ashka
hi!

do any of you guys have unwanted pre-loved books in the Russian? It is so boring out here: I am looking for anything other than complete junk. LOcal bookstores are too expensive when it comes to immported books.

Looking in particular for:

HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy
The Strugatskie Brothers

If anyone has anything, drop me a line

Cheers!

I just finished 'Taken' by Dean Koontz. It's been so long since I've had my hands on one of his books and even after all this time, he's still up pretty high on my list for a good day off of reading.

I got to re-read one of my favorite books ever, quite possibly my #2 of all time. For anyone who's interested, it's "Stranger in a Strange Land" by Robert Heinlein. It's a slow read at first but well worth trudging through. And if any of you can get your hands on the unabridged version (the one Heinlein wanted to originally publish) even better.

Hola, has anyone here ever heard of Julie Orringer? If not I suggest looking for her book 'How to Breathe Underwater'.

I've just been over to http://www.darkinventions.com which has information on a new novel by a new author. The book is called Farperoo and is huge! At 370,000 words it's the first of a twelve volume set with themes that HDM fans will appreciate.
OK, I admit it, I'm the author. But the book is definitely worth a read!

Hello,
I just joined. I love mostly clasic literature, and mostly horrors I guess. My favourite book ever is 'The Phantom of the Opera' but I also love 'Frankenstein', 'Dracula', '1984', 'Animal Farm' and way too many more. I have both of my huge bookshelves packed full of books. The house is paked with them.
Anyway, I just wanted to say hello.
Alex.

Ray Bradbury/Something Wicked This Way Comes [04 Jun 2004|06:14pm]

I am an avid reader of most any form of literature, except for trashy romance novels(sorry). I would suggest Something Wicked This Way Comes to anyone that enjoys to read. It is an incredible book, beautifully written and engaging. The descriptions are intense and emotional, and the supernatural element gives the book an otherworldly feel even though it deals with the real-life issue of adolescence. An amazing book, one of my favorites.

Okay, I'm back. After 8 days of being sick with a rather stubborn flu, I've finally felt decent enough to do something about this community, even though I have 3 hours of sleep under my belt. I hope to find some more people around to join, if I'm lucky. Thanks to those of you who've stuck around ^_^ I'm praying that I can get some sleep after this.
