GNOME Brand

A consistent visual style helps to make GNOME more easily recognisable. It also allows us to reinforce a positive image of the project. This relies on consistency and the assistance of community members in following the brand book.

The brand book is not intended as a style guide for GNOME software user interfaces. Indeed, visual elements from GNOME's user interfaces should not, as a rule, be used elsewhere in the visual design of GNOME project materials.

Download Complete Asset Kit

If you're looking for icons, download the Icon Library app which allows you to search and export icon assets. App Illustrations includes some essential assets to create derivative illustrations.

Download the Libreoffice Impress template if you want to give a talk on a GNOME topic.

Refer to the illustration style guidelines when seeking to design your own illustrations.

Typography

Consistent typography is a key element of the visual identity. GNOME UI is set in Adwaita Sans, a typeface adjusted specifically for user interfaces. Printed materials and websites are set in Inter, the typeface Adwaita Sans is based on.

Color

Color is another important element of the visual identity, and is key to quick and easy brand recognition. Emphasis of the primary brand color is particularly important. Colors should be taken from the brand palette wherever possible.

To allow for reasonable contrast, it is suggested to darken the luminance of the colors for dark preference. One way is to use the HSL color mode and multiply the luminance value by 0.85 as it is done here.
