Werewolf

I’ve always found werewolves much more exciting than vampires when I was growing up, and now I’ve found a really cool one in miniature to paint from Rusted Heroes…Varu’Lfur ~ The Beast Within. This figure strongly reminds me of the werewolves in Skyrim, so the paint job was based on a cross between the photo above and the game version.

The One Ring December Painting Challenge: Winter Theme (Completed)

Posted in Lord of the Rings / Fantasy on December 10, 2011 by botwt

Well, seeing how my Dwarven miniatures have wintry themed bases I decided to paint a Dwarf King for my miniature this month. I modified his weapon to give him a unique look, otherwise he is just as he was. The paint scheme was inspired by the Klingon-like Thorin that will be present in the upcoming Hobbit films, and the snow flock I used on this model is the one I’ve been using from Skullcrafts; it just gives a great realistic effect and I doubt I will try another brand anytime soon.

The One Ring December Painting Challenge: Winter Theme (Part I)

Here is the miniature I will be painting for this month’s challenge…a Dwarf King with a modified weapon. I used some liquid green stuff to help make the war axe  look like it was one piece. I’m not really sure of a color scheme yet…will have to noodle on that for a bit.

The One Ring November Painting Challenge: Orc Shaman

Posted in Lord of the Rings / Fantasy on November 23, 2011 by botwt

For this month’s challenge I decided to paint a Moria Shaman as opposed to the Orc Shaman. I went with this model not because I have or collect Moria, but because it is a very nice sculpt and will work just fine in my Mordor or Angmar armies as a proxy for an Orc Shaman. With that being said I decided to give the little bugger a different paint scheme than the typical Moria Goblins to fit in better with my Mordor/Angmar units.

Megatron & Laserbeak (Part II)

Posted in Sci-Fi on November 10, 2011 by botwt

Little more base coloring completed today. Next I’ll add another coat of silver, then tidy up the edges where excess went over onto the black and red areas and finally get the metal to look weathered. Then onto the details.

This model has been on my desk staring at me for some time now, so today I primed him and began some test colors.

I painted his head to near completion to get a feel for how the rest of the silver paint job should look, and so far it’s not too shabby. Still need to clean up around his eyes, add some highlights and paint the neck black, but it will at least give a start on how to proceed with the rest of the model. Next up is after he is painted is to settle on a base.
