Two new sets of Super Battle Droids and Battle Droids are available now from the Knight Models website, not to mention two army sets…a huge Separatist Droid Army and the Republic Jedi Knight set.

Bossk (Completed)

Posted in Sci-Fi on January 6, 2012 by botwt

I was looking over my models and found that Bossk was actually unfinished, but sitting in with my completed models. So I added some depth to his paint job and now he looks like be belongs with the rest of my finished Star Wars miniatures.

Qui-Gon Jinn

Posted in Sci-Fi on January 2, 2012 by botwt

Just finished my Clone Wars Season 3 boxed set this weekend and I’m not entirely sure that the animated Qui-Gon Jinn didn’t rub off into my miniature version of him. The more I look at the figures face the more it looks cartoonish…not that I am complaining, it’s just kinda funny how that worked out.

The One Ring January Painting Challenge: Gimli

Posted in Lord of the Rings / Fantasy on January 1, 2012 by botwt

For this competition I’ll be painting Balin as an alternate to the Gimli model. I plan on basing him on a resin base to showcase him as my army’s leader and think I will carry over the dark Klingon-esque color palette. Here is the unpainted model on his resin ruins base from Scibor Monstrous Miniatures.

Qui-Gon Jinn (Part II) & Happy New Year!

Posted in Sci-Fi on December 31, 2011 by botwt

Spent a few hours on his face between last night and today…it’s coming along, just not sure about the left eyebrow, reminds me a bit of Spock, but still works for the expression on his face.

Last post of 2011, hope you guys have a safe New Years holiday!!

Qui-Gon Jinn (Part I)

This guy has been sitting with the rest of the unpainted masses for what seems like ever. Today I filled the horrible gaps where his arms were attached with my Liquid Green Stuff…I tell you this stuff works wonders! The funny thing is after I primed him I noticed for the first time this miniature has a really nice sculpt for a plastic model! The likeness to Liam Neeson is remarkable! Now, for once, I am actually excited to paint this one.

Dwarven Color Scheme Revisited

Posted in Lord of the Rings / Fantasy on December 28, 2011 by botwt

The original plan for my Lord of the Rings Dwarven Army was going to be blues, silvers and golds, but I’ve decided to head in another direction…blacks, greys and browns because of the look that Peter Jackson went with for Thorin Oakenshield in the upcoming film is really starting to grow on me.

Here are my repainted Ori (Loremaster) and Shield Bearer in the new color scheme, along with two new models I painted…a Khazad Guard and his Captain.

Vader’s Secret Apprentice

Here is my latest Christmas miniature…Guild of Harmony Miniatures ~ Karick-Dar, Apprentice as an alternative for Galen Marek/Starkiller. Instead of the blue saber and normal eyes I decided to go with a red saber and Sith eyes.

Knight Models Boba Fett

Posted in Sci-Fi on December 26, 2011 by botwt

Here is my completed Boba Fett from Knight Models. This time I stuck with the traditional color scheme (Empire Strikes Back) instead of the prototype white armor I did on my other version of him. Hell of a fun model to paint, and probably my favorite 30mm KM miniature to date!!
