New Knight Models Update

Posted in Lord of the Rings / Fantasy on March 9, 2012 by botwtI’ve been having some issues with my hands due to my MS, so I’ve decided to rethink my plan of doing the Rohan Captain and Hornblower in favor of the Orc Captain and Drummer. I will need to be less perfect on these models as Orcs aren’t running about in pristine costumes. So here are the two that I’ll tackle this month.
The One Ring March Painting Challenge: Command Group
Posted in Lord of the Rings / Fantasy on March 4, 2012 by botwtSo, this month we have to include two models…“To enter this month you MUST have a Captain and at least 1 of the following; Banner Bearer, Hornblower, Drummer (Drummers in Moria’s case), Taskmaster, Dragon Knight, Shieldbearer, Kings Huntsmen, Knight of the White Tower or Shaman (War Priest) – max of 1 of each.”
I think that I will go with a couple of Rohan models, it has been a while since I worked on some of them…so I’ll enter my Hornblower & Captain.
Knight Models To Get New Licenses For DC Comics & Lord Of The Rings
Posted in Lord of the Rings / Fantasy, Reviews / Uncategorized / Misc., Sci-Fi on March 4, 2012 by botwtMy friend Miguel over on One Ring posted about the upcoming new licenses that Knight Models will be carrying soon! Looks like DC Comics, Dragon Ball and Lord of the Rings…very cool!! I know that from the photo that the Boromir and Joker are going to be mine, and I’m sure that an awesome Batman will be in the mix as well!
Non Hobby Related, But…
Posted in Reviews / Uncategorized / Misc. on February 27, 2012 by botwtMy Buffalo Sabres acquired today at the NHL trade deadline a player I had hoped that they would have had the chance to draft back in 2008…Cody Hodgson! I couldn’t be more happy and we truly gave away a player that shows up to play at best maybe every other game in Zack Kassian. While I like the Vancouver Canucks as well, I think that they made a huge blunder in giving away Hodgson…and thank you Canucks management for doing that!
Knight Models New 30mm Emperor’s Royal Guards
Posted in Reviews / Uncategorized / Misc., Sci-Fi on February 18, 2012 by botwtA new two pack of 30mm Star Wars miniatures has been released from Knight Models…this time we get treated to the Emperor’s Royal Guards which look fantastic! With a bit of a modification you might even be able to use them as Senate Guards.
The One Ring February Painting Challenge: Sauron
Posted in Lord of the Rings / Fantasy on February 12, 2012 by botwtWell, being that I don’t have a Sauron model to paint this month and there isn’t an alternative model as in months past, I decided to paint my Khamûl miniature. With my Nazgûl, I chose to have only Khamûl and the Witch-king as my only armored wraiths in my armies, and I was not a fan of the multicolored robes that Games Workshop gave their model, so I went with an all black robed Khamûl.

Castellan Of Dol Guldur
Posted in Lord of the Rings / Fantasy on January 29, 2012 by botwtFor this model I wanted to have a different look than the typical black shroud wrapped around silver armor, so I initially went with a brown/bronze theme. However the bronze armor looked quite out of place so I went back to the weathered silver armor. I also added glowing green eyes to make him stand further apart from an armored Ringwraith.

New Lord Of The Rings On Advance Order
Posted in Lord of the Rings / Fantasy, Reviews / Uncategorized / Misc. on January 28, 2012 by botwtGames Workshop has a slew of new models and sourcebooks available on advance order for their Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game. Several look like must buys for me…I’m really liking the looks of the Dweller in the Dark model.
General Grievous’ Cape
Posted in Sci-Fi on January 26, 2012 by botwtJust how to paint General Grievous’ cape has been something that I have been contemplating since getting this model…so today I tried my hand at a free hand pattern to the inner lining of the cape…that failed miserably. There are no pictures of that fiasco due to not wanting to embarrass myself and to offend my visitors. Instead I went with a dark red look to the inner cloak…this I’ll show off.
However, once the model is finished I will add this symbol that is on the back of his cape…so, I will actually be doing some free hand work on this model.
