The One Ring July Painting Challenge: Frodo

Posted in Lord of the Rings / Fantasy on July 6, 2012 by botwt

For this challenge I am going to try to capture the color scheme of both Frodo and Samwise from The Two Towers film. This color palette will allow me to be a bit more forgiving with the crispness to the paint job as both characters are going to be a bit dirty. Hopefully I can pull off two models in one month…hehe.

The One Ring June Painting Challenge: Royalty (Witch-king)

Posted in Lord of the Rings / Fantasy on June 29, 2012 by botwt

Well, I finally completed a model after such a long layoff due to my MS. He wasn’t the hardest model to tackle, but was a good one to complete after not having the energy or the steadiness over the last little while. Next months challenge will put me to the test…hobbits.

For this model I used a series of different blacks on the robe, Boltgun Metal and Chainmail on the metallic parts with different levels of shading, and my typical scorched earth look to my evil bases with the obligatory bleached out, dead grass to finish it off.

The One Ring June Painting Challenge: Royalty

Posted in Lord of the Rings / Fantasy on June 28, 2012 by botwt

For the June theme of Royalty I decided to go with the Witch-king. I have one painted for my Angmar army, but needed one for my Mordor army so went with the version that came with the “No Man Can Kill Me” vignette.

On a side note, I am still working on my May challenge of Ventress, but seeing how I completely missed that deadline I can take my time with her.

The One Ring May Painting Challenge: Hasharin

Posted in Lord of the Rings / Fantasy on May 6, 2012 by botwt

As I don’t have any Harad models in my mountainous backlog to paint for this challenge I wasn’t planning to participate, however I was thinking of at least painting some kind of evil LotR model. Until my good buddy Pasi suggested I paint up a Sith Assassin.

So, for me The One Ring May Painting Challenge will be Asajj Ventress.

The One Ring April Painting Challenge: Legolas ~ The Failure

Posted in Lord of the Rings / Fantasy, Sci-Fi on April 28, 2012 by botwt

Well this month’s challenge has been a dismal failure. No progress, not even cleaned up and assembled. I think it was the idea of painting an elf that just did me in…I just couldn’t motivate myself.  Wow, what a miserable slacker…hehe.

I do plan on getting back to my Knight Models General Grievous as my next model and also hammering out a model for the One Ring May Challenge.

More New Knight Models Miniatures

This time Knight Models has two Lord of the Rings models in 70mm scale of Boromir and Gandalf the Grey and a cool miniature of Batman in 35mm which is different than the Joker, who was done in 70mm (here’s hoping for a 35mm Joker and a 70mm Batman coming soon). They also have two other 70mm models of Superman and Lex Luthor…pretty cool stuff coming from them!!

The Mouth Of Sauron

Here is my completed Mouth of Sauron foot model. This guy has been in my collection forever and figured I’d give him a paint job and get one more model out of my monstrous backlog.

The One Ring April Painting Challenge: Legolas ~ Part I

Well, I think I may try to tackle this Legolas…might try a different color scheme, but I’ll know better once he is cleaned up, based and primed.

The One Ring March Painting Challenge: Command Group (Completed)

Well, I did manage to get my Orc Command finished off in the nick of time. My hands have been really buggy lately but all in all I am pleased with the results.
