For 250 years, America has been called the "land of the free," but who has that freedom truly been extended to? While the First Amendment guarantees free speech, not all voices have been heard. America’s history of censorship dates to back before 1776. Books have been banned, burned, and censored to control ideas. Whether you’re a writer, painter, sculptor, or binder, ABM understands that great work takes time. Handmade books are crafted not just for the sake of the final product–but to strengthen the experience of creation. Even after the story is published, the painting hung, the sculpture erected, or the book bound, Slow Art Day urges us to take our time experiencing the product. Next time you visit the museum take the time to examine each book looking at its hinges, endbands, and marbled edges carefully.Who knows what you’ll discover when you allow yourself to slow down and see the details hidden in plain sight.#SlowArtDay #ABM #AmericanBookbindersMuseum #ArtAppreciation #Museum #SlowYourRoll #Breathe #ArtMatters #Introspection ...
