Meta: Wrong Turn 'verse and canon

The post-manga world of this 'verse was plotted out around Chapter 99. It had to happen: I got jossed. The manga is over, and as I start The Phoney War, I thought it might help for clarity's sake to provide a quick guide to where this 'verse goes AU, for those who want it. This story goes slightly AU from Ch 104 onwards: a few things went down differently during the Promised Day, with the consequences that a lot of things are very different two years on.

the tl;dr nerding details, key bits bolded for your convenience. 108 spoilers, naturally.Collapse )

Fic: The Phoney War, Chapter One

Title:The Phoney War, Chapter One: Blue Monday
Setting: Fullmetal Alchemist, mangaverse, post-series, yet plotted out way last year. Hence, this story and 'verse is AU on a few significant plot points from 104-108: see notes.
Characters: Roy/Ed (UST), Havoc/Rebecca, Riza/Miles, Al, Winry, ensemble
Warnings: This chapter: R for sweary mouths and a little gore. Will be NC-17 overall.
Word count: 4718
Summary: two years on from the Promised Day. Amestris is without a Fuhrer. In the military, Mustang's faction of reformers are locked in struggle with General Hakuro's old guard. Ed and Al have discovered that Hakuro's faction are developing an alchemical weapon that makes the Immortal Army look harmless. Civil war seems inevitable. As the battle lines are drawn up, Team Mustang search urgently for Hakuro's secret weapon and meanwhile, struggle to get from day to day knowing that tomorrow could be the day that everything comes crashing down …
Notes: Direct sequel to No Small Injury. A heads-up: the plotty plot continues, but the Roy/Ed in this one is going to be mostly explicit rather than subtexty. Illustrated fic is illustrated (by me). Betaed and edited by enemytosleep, and additional thanks to cornerofmadness for surgical and wound care know-how. Shout-out to havocmangawip for one line which echoes a classic line from her Jean Havoc: a Work in Progress.
