About Me

Hi! I am Onur Sahin; Aiono is my nickname on online platforms. I am currently a Master's student in Freiburg University on Computer Science. At the moment, I am working on my thesis with Peter Thiemann in the area of typestate systems. Also, I am working part-time at JetBrains on Twirl.

I got my bachelors in Computer Science from Bilkent University in 2021. Then I worked full time at Carbon Health for 2.5 years. In 2023 I started doing masters in Computer Science at Freiburg University. During my Master's I did an internship in AWS Redshift Engine about data encodings.

I aspire to work on systems software. My specific interests are:

• Compilers & type checking
• Formal verification & static analysis
• Database engines
• Browser engines

I am interested in working or doing a PhD in one of those fields.

Some of my hobbies:

• Playing electric guitar
• Listening music (Especially progressive metal but I listen a lot of different stuff)
• Playing board games
• Recently I try to get into bouldering (spoiler: I sprained my ankle and it didn't help on my enthusiasm)
