Happy
02-02-02!!!
So I am back again today to say...
Happy
02-02-20!!!
You may not have noticed, it was small and huge at the same time.
Our idiot president signed an executive order to ban Muslims and even though they had LEGAL visas and green cards they were being detained at airports all over the country. The ACLU filed a stay before noon today. Thousands of New Yorkers started protesting at JFK airport, where 11 legal immigrants were being held. Americans came out in force tonight protesting at every major airport in the US.
This evening the ACLU announce that a Federal judge had granted a stay and everyone would be allowed into the US.
This is just the beginning...
For about a year I have wanted to do research on something that I can't find any info on out there on the internetz...
The relationship between children without love bonds and the temperature.
Let me explain...
I watched a documentary on a feral girl who was raised in a room by herself without any human contact until she was 13. She never learned to speak, among other things. But she also feels no hot and no cold. Living in Minnesota I have met quite a few people who don't feel the hot and cold, they don't even bother with a jacket when it's 30°F below. Many of them are children, children who happened to have emotional behavior problems, were neglected, or abused.
I was thinking maybe there was a connection. Maybe the feeling of hot and cold is also learned in some way and not totally instinctive. (We tell babies not to touch a hot stove.) Or maybe if feelings are restricted and love is denied by parents, the feeling of hot and cold is suppressed by the child. I still haven't come to any sort of conclusions.
But meanwhile in Utah, my 11-year-old niece, who has been hugged and kissed every day of her life by both parents, walks two blocks home from her bus stop wearing short sleeves in 15°F and tells me she never wears a coat... and she blows all my theories out of the water.

thefridayfive a day or 2 late...1. Have you ever spent time on a farm?
I grew up (age 4-9) on a farm. It was a great childhood until my parents divorced. We had sheep, steers, horses, pigeons, chickens, ducks, geese, a goat, cats, dogs, snakes, a skunk, a turtle, bees, and butterflies.
2. Have you ever been to summer camp?
Nope, didn't have to when we lived on a farm.
3. What is your favorite summertime memory?
After moving to the city, riding my bike everywhere, all day long, just to explore.
4. Did you ever play Kick the Can or tag as a kid?
We played a tag game, can't remember the title, where the whole neighborhood played, in the dark, and the whole block was in bounds. Whoever was it had to tag people and they went to 1604 Taylor's front stairs where they would yell, "I need a back back back in!" and someone else could run by and tag them back in the game. Most fun ever!
5. Can you milk a cow?
I know how, but we never had milking cows.

(Some good friends on Facebook are already complaining about the number of posts about Robin's suicide, which I find very idiotic, but everyone is allowed their feelings.) I am also quite pissed at people saying, "...he was so loved, it's a pity he didn't know it." WTF he was not sad because no one liked him! He had depression, a crippling medical illness that he survived with his whole life with, through humor (and addiction). Love does not cure depression. What is sad is that still so many are ignorant about medical illness.
I have adored Robin since he first set foot on Happy Days. I never missed a Mork and Mindy. I have seen many of his movies and stand-up routines multiple times. I even went to see the dreadful Insomnia in theaters. I went out to lunch today with my friend Becky and we even talked about Robin, before we heard the news. She didn't know he was here at Hazelden seeking counselling in July. I assumed he was still there, but he died at his home near San Francisco. Becky and I have always gone together to see Robin's movies in the theater. :(
I do this to my boyfriend, often... it will be different now...
