Twilio Integrations: Use Twilio as an action to send messages based on triggers like form submissions, e-commerce purchases, or system alerts. Use Twilio as a trigger to start workflows when you receive an SMS, a call is answered, or a WhatsApp message comes in.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to integrate Bit Form with Twilio, where Bit Form serves as the trigger and Twilio is the action. Once the integration is complete, a new subscriber will be automatically added to your Twilio account every time someone submits your form.

This beginner-friendly, step-by-step tutorial is designed to help you quickly set up your first automation—making it easier to grow your email list, nurture leads, and manage contacts directly from your WordPress forms.

Authorization of Twilio Integrations as Action

To set Twilio as an action in Bit Flows, first open your Bit Flows Dashboard, then either create a new flow or open an existing one. In the Flow Builder, click the plus (+) icon to add an action. From the list of available apps, search for and select Twilio.

After selecting your preferred action, the next step is to choose an event. For example, in this case, we’ve selected the “Send SMS” event.

  • Send SMS
  • Get a Message
  • Get all Messages
  • Cell Phone
  • Get a Call
  • Get all Calls

After selecting the action event, a new popup will appear. Here, you need to connect your Twilio account. If you’ve already connected Twilio before and want to use the same account, simply select it from the “Select Connection” dropdown. If not, click on “Add Connection” to create a new one.

If you’ve already created a connection earlier and want to use it with the same account, simply select it from the “Select Connection” dropdown. This saves time and avoids creating duplicate connections.

When you click the Add Connection button, you’ll be prompted to enter a name for your connection and supply your Key and Secret.

To get your Twilio Account Key and Secret, follow these steps:

  • Go to the Twilio Console.
  • Navigate to the Develop section.
  • Within the Develop section, find your account credentials:
    • Account SID (Key): This unique identifier for your Twilio account.
    • Auth Token (Secret): A secret key used to authenticate your account when interacting with Twilio’s API.
    • My Twilio phone number: The Twilio phone number you’ll use to send messages or make calls.

Copy and paste credentials:

  • Copy your Account SID and paste it into the designated field label “Key“.
  • Repeat the process for your Auth Token, pasting it into the “Secret” field.

Once you have successfully entered your Twilio Account SID and Auth Token click “Connect” button to proceed.

After that another popup will open, here you need to put your Twilio account phone number in the sender phone number field.

Then map the recipient phone number and message

Field Mapping: Here, you’ll see a “Map Fields” section where you need to map your form fields to the matching fields in Twilio. The “Sender Phone Number, Recipient Phone Number and Message ” field is required by Twilio, so make sure to map your form’s Sender Phone Number, Recipient Phone Number and Message  field to it. You can also click the “Add Contact Field” button to map additional fields. Additionally, you can enhance your request logic using FlowMathString, and System functions.

Once you’ve finished these settings, you can either click the “Test Run” button to check if the integration is working correctly or simply close the popup to complete the setup.

When you click the Test Run button, the output will be displayed just above it. However, please note that Test Run results are not recorded in the logs.

You also have the option to test the full flow. You can either click “Listen Response” and then run the trigger event (e.g., submit the form), or use existing data to test the integration and make sure everything works correctly.

After completing all the steps, click the “Logs” icon at the top-right corner of the Flow Builder to view your integration logs. Logs help you verify if the trigger and action worked correctly and make it easier to spot and fix any issues.

That’s it! You’ve successfully set up an automation in Bit Flows to connect Bit Form with Twilio. Now, whenever someone submits your form, a new subscriber will be automatically added to your Twilio account.

This integration helps you grow your email list, automate lead nurturing, and streamline your marketing efforts—all with minimal effort. For more help or to explore additional integrations, be sure to check out our comprehensive User Guide.
