Cherilea Indians 60mm - Repaint-Remodeling Part II

Not much work has been done in this project since , the last months , a lot of other projects running on my painting table. Along with my first participation to the AHPC competition , not much time left for my collection..

The only thing is the skin tones painting with Army Painters " Tanned Flesh" and washed with the Army Painter " Flesh Wash".  I could hold on my self and managed to finish two of them as a sample of the different colours and schemes. I can say that I'm happy with the first results..

Fancy and solid colours used to give the feeling of a "Toy Soldier" rather than a realistic model.
Though a small shading and layering was applied for a more "Eye Satisfying" result..

That's all for now. More to come soon (?).. Hope you like these two little Reds :)

Repainting - Remodeling , Cherilea 60mm Plastic "Indians"

Hi everyone! A different topic for this week. Different era and scale. Been a long time since I got these figures and always had them in mind since I want to repaint them for my collection..

So, here we have a small collection of vintage "Cherilea" 60mm ( about 1:30 scale) dated back in late 50s or early 60s. I couldn't find exact date of production ,so, if anyone has additional info please add them to the comments.

Cherilea was an English company founded in 1946 by W. Cherrington and John Leaver . They where both former designers in the famous JoHilCo company. They produced in hollow-cast lead until 1955 when they began doing plastic figures. The big 60mm figures was their asset in the 60s.

So , at first the paint remains should be cleaned up and also to cut the mold lines. These figures was factory painted but this was one of the weak points of Cherilea. Many collectors complained for the easy paint loss of these figures. As a result, all the figures that survived until our times are almost unpainted. So the cleaning started...

This is the average condition of each figure. Some have more or less paint

 During the surgery operation..

.....and finaly,... I feel like I have resculpt these figures!!

Some very nicely detailed figures revealed after all cleaning! With enough wear though...
I hope I can correct that with painting..

.......and some restorations - conversions needed.
I 've used parts from other damaged figures or creat some as with the axe made of sprue part..

and....Tadaaa!! They are ready for painting :)

Out of 14 figures , these are the casualties that didn't make it to the painting table..
Although they give a hand (... or a feather..haha..) to the restoration of the others!!
The right one that looks good is badly broken in the belt line.

To Be Continued!

I hope you enjoy this WIP post and inspired you somehow!

Till next time...

Britains Deetail " U.S. Infantry Officer" 1:32 , 54mm, repainted

Hi everyone!  While I'm working on a commission painting for a "AWI British grenadiers" project, I would like to share here a figure painted some months a go. This is a 1971 classic Britains Deetail figure that I decided to repaint.

These classic figures where painted in a simple way with fancy colors and most of the times they lose their nice details of the sculpt. I will try to paint more of them when I find the time.

Hope you enjoy the pictures below! Feel free to comment and share your opinion about the painting or your experience with those lovely figures..

That's all for now! A small post for a newly repainted happy guy !!
Hope you enjoy and get inspired somehow..

Airfix " Medieval Foot Soldiers" 1:32 Repainting-Restored

 Hi everyone!
Long time again since my last post , and I'm back with another small restoration. These figures
were badly and partially painted when they come to me and the paint was starting to break on some
spots. (I used those breaks to make cuttings of the cloths).

Here you can see the starting state of the figures. I decide no to try to scrub the paint of , but
only cut of some mould lines and loose paint breaks and repaint them.

And here is the final result.( after few hours but many days of sporadic painting....)

Once again one incomplete set but it was a figure resurrection so it doesn't count ..:)

Hope you like them and enjoy the pictures  ,  ...till next time...

1:72 ESCI "British Infantry"

Hi there!
Here is the second group from my testing in the small scale. Once again not a complete set.
These figures are from ESCI 1982 "British Infantry " set 200. Some came to me already (badly)
painted so I repainted them! The figure of the wounded man was already clogged and that's why
the detail is very poor...anyway I believe I restore him somehow..

This time I've expanded the base using a 5sent Euro coin and I enjoy the basing as much as
painting :)  These little guys don't give you much space for basing ,so ,  I see what others do
and I did the same..Nice and easy technique!

Here are the pics from the final result and some during the basing. I hope you enjoy!

Here is my basing technique for adding sand and rocks. It is a mixture of sand and rocks in various sizes (even dust size!) , water and PVA glue. Mix it well and if you keep it in a fine closing pot you can keep it for weeks! The only disadvantage is that after 1-2 weeks It has a strong moisture smell when you open the pot! Don't worry , after 1-2 minutes outside its ok :)

After the mix is dry (take some hours)
I give a dark brown-red wash. Then some
dry brushing with 2 light tones and is ready!

Here some artistic (contrast doped !) white background pictures!

That's all for this week! I enjoy more this second set and I see that as long as I paint this scale , the more I love it!!  The next set it will paint it will be a full set ( this will be my breakthrough, Peter! )

Hope you enjoy this post and the that pictures were an inspiration to someone!!

'Till next time...
