Roberto Santamaria
Nato a Genova nel 1968, Roberto Santamaria si è diplomato nel 1991 alla Scuola di Archivistica, Paleografia e Diplomatica dell'Archivio di Stato di Genova, dove ha lavorato molti anni come archivista. Dopo la laurea all'Università di Genova con una tesi sul pittore olandese Gerrit Van Honthorst (1995), ha conseguito il diploma di specializzazione in Storia dell'arte medievale e della prima età moderna con una tesi sulla corporazione dei marmorari genovesi nel XVII e XVIII secolo. Tra 2023 e 2024, è stato assegnista di ricerca presso l'Università di Genova e nel 2024 ha ottenuto il titolo di dottore di ricerca presso l'Università di Ginevra con un progetto incentrato sulla cosidetta “industria” del marmo a Genova in Età moderna. I suoi studi, concretizzatisi in un centinaio di pubblicazioni, nascono da approfondite e per lo più inedite indagini archivistiche e riguardano la storia del collezionismo d'arte e degli artisti attivi a Genova tra il XVI e il XVIII secolo. Dal 2022, anno in cui è stato nominato Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et Lettres dal Ministero della Cultura francese, insegna archivistica e analisi documentaria presso la Scuola Politecnica - Dipartimento Architettura e Design dell'Università di Genova. Attualmente è assegnista di ricerca presso l'Università per stranieri di Siena.
After his MA at the University of Genoa with a dissertation on the Netherlandish painter Gerrit Van Honthorst (1995), Roberto Santamaria received a “diploma di specializzazione” in Medieval and Early modern art history with a dissertation on the guild of Genoese marble workers in the 17th and 18th centuries. Roberto is also PhD at the University of Geneva with a project focused on marble in Genoa in the Modern Age. His studies, originating from in-depth and mostly unpublished archival investigations, concern the history of art collecting and the artists active in Genoa between the 16th and 18th centuries. He graduated from the Scuola di Archivistica, Paleografia e Diplomatica of the Genoa Archivio di Stato, where he worked as archivist. He was a research fellow at the University of Genoa too. Since 2022 he teaches archival studies and documentary analysis at the Scuola Politecnica - Dipartimento Architettura e Design of the University of Genoa. He was made a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et Lettres by the French Culture Ministry in 2022. Actually he is a research fellow at the University for foreigners of Siena.
