Now let me tell you about my fabulous, fangirly week in London! I flew out the night of January 3rd, and while I had been happy to have booked a seat in Virgin's premium economy, a nice flight attendant came up just as I was settling in and invited me to come sit in upper class! I had never flown first class before, and I kept expecting someone to tell me it was a mistake, and I had to go back. *g* But nope, I had a super cool little cubicle all to myself, where I was given wine and cocktails, excellent food and a bed where I was able to get some really good sleep. Best flight, ever.
Once in London, I stayed with jhava and her kitties for the week. There was shopping in Camden, which is my new favorite place in London. There was hilarious gay panto at the Above the Stag Theater with jhava and bigtitch followed by Indian food in a restaurant with double-decker booths.
Tuesday and Thursday jhava and I went to see Mojo, which is excellent of course. I really liked it a lot. Colin is fantastic, Ben is fascinating, Rupert made me LOL and Daniel Mays is brilliant. I'm sure by now you've all heard about the Skinny/Baby/Jukebox scene. I've actually found a couple of photos that somebody apparently snapped during the play - not me! I would never! But I've put them under a cut below just so you can get a wee taste. The third picture I did take. It's of the curtain from my seat in the second row. If you look closely, you'll see said jukebox through the curtain, so you'll know just how close I was to Colin's legs. :)
On Wednesday, we met evildrem for lunch. She was going to see Matt Smith in American Psycho: the Musical, and was able to snag me a ticket! So not only did I get to see Colin in his undies, but I also got to see Matt in his undies. :D I really couldn't imagine what to think about this play, but I honestly liked it a lot, too. Completely bizarre! But in a good way! During intermission, I was kinda stuck in a corner, so I stayed put. evildrem popped out and got us programs, and when she came back and handed it to me she says, "apparently Bradley James is here!" Me: "WHAT?" I spent the next several minutes scanning the audience, and YES! There he was, pretty much dead center in the audience, with Tom Hopper next to him! GUYS. MY LUCK THAT WEEK WILL PROBABLY NEVER BE TOPPED.
Finally finished this today, yay! I'm working on a Sherlock bracelet, too. So far I've managed to find a wee silver violin, a gun, a magnifying glass, a little red phone booth, a cute Union Jack charm, and even a little silver deer stalker. :) And tiny picture frames that I've put John and Sherlock in. I'm thinking of looking for a tiny microscope, now. And maybe a smiley face! *g*
Absolutely wonderful blog post from the violinist who worked with Benedict Cumberbatch on Sherlock. Sherlock on the Fiddle
The author is good about responding to questions/comments, in answer to a follow up question about if Benedict was a good pupil,
"I felt really lucky! And he was a great pupil. Amazingly fast learner. He was lovely and down to earth and came to a pub quiz too. Where there was a Sherlock question. Funny."
