My basement is back! The carpet was reinstalled yesterday, yay! I spent most of last night unpacking all of the DVDs, and putting them back on the shelves, along with various photographs and action figures, and hung everything back up on the walls. It feels like home again! And I moved the litter box out of my laundry room, and back into the basement storage room, where it belongs. And then, of course, I had to clean the laundry room. *whew* I still need to clean the tile in the bar area and the bathroom, and clean the construction dust off of the bar, but I was too tired to do that, so CleoKitty and I curled up on the sofa and watched Billie Piper in "Secret Diaries of a Call Girl". My basement is once again my happy place! \o/

In other news, I have friends coming over for a birthday celebration/cookout on Saturday, and may not get to watch Doctor Who until late that night, after everyone leaves. I may break out in hives, and die from anticipation.

I actually got away from the computer today! Go me! First, I tackled weeds in the garden, and pruned my crape myrtle and a forsythia that was going ape shit and crowding out my lilac. Then I went to Home Depot, and bought a cartload of red geraniums, vinca vine, a fushia plant, a big hanging basket overflowing with a variety of flowers, and a huge bag of potting soil. I spent the rest of the afternoon planting deck boxes and pots, and cleaning the deck furniture. I feel all productive and stuff. :) Now I'm freshly showered and spritzed with a liberal amount of Jean Nate after bath spray (which has been my guilty pleasure on hot, summer days since I was a kid) and having a tall glass of sparkling water and a bag of Jenny Craig cheese curls. And so goes my Sunday. What're all of you up to today? :)

Update on the Basement of Fangirly Squee: We've got estimates for the repair and the new carpet, and the insurance adjuster will be here on Tuesday to assess the damage and let us know how much they're going to give us to pay for it all. Then we can give the contractor a go. He says that the reconstruction should take 7 days. Once that's done, the carpet dudes can come in, and with any luck, Fangirl Central will be back to normal before the end of June. And then I think I'm going to plan a party! Who would be up for a big, weekend, fangirl BBQ and DVD party to celebrate the grand reopening? If all goes according to plan, we could do it 4th of July weekend. If not, the end of July, maybe? Anybody? :D
