Join the Courage Crew – Courage Tiger’s Exclusive Team

Be part of a compassionate community and make a commitment alongside Courage Tiger, our beloved mascot.

Together, the Courage Crew will engage and energize the community and recruit more caring individuals to Carry a Bead!

By joining the Courage Crew, you become part of Courage Tiger’s Team—a dedicated group of Beads of Courage Ambassadors spreading encouragement and compassion while raising awareness for the mission of Beads of Courage.

Collectively, we encourage kids coping with cancer and other serious illness,  show them they are not alone, honor their bravery, and celebrate their courage.

Together, we carry and return beads as tangible symbols of hope and encouragement for children and teens battling serious illnesses.

Your Commitment as a Member of the Crew

  • Participate monthly in the Carry a Bead initiative.
    • You receive a bead set every month. Carry these beads on a walk, hike, run, trip and return one to be given to a child in Beads of Courage.  You keep the other bead as a symbol of your support. Every time you Carry a Bead, you keep a bead as you build your own “strand of support.”
  • Share the Carry a Bead initiative in your community.
    • We will share Courage Tiger’s strategies with you to help us make meaningful connections in your community as we seek to recruit more caring people to participate in the Carry a Bead initiative
  • Share the Beads of Courage mission as a member of the Courage Crew
    • We will equip you with meaningful mission moments that will inspire others to get involved to further strengthen our bead family connections and human caring through Carry a Bead.

Alongside Courage Tiger, the Courage Crew’s collective goals in 2026 include:

  1. Every Courage Crew member to personally carry and return beads monthly.
  2. Collectively recruit enough participants that we receive 10,000 beads through the Carry a Bead initiative that will be distributed to 10,000 children or teens receiving the Beads of Courage Program.
  3. Recruit a Courage Crew member in all 50 states and/or major cities where we have the Beads of Courage Program established in a member hospital.

Thank you to our current 2026 Courage Crew members who joined us in January of 2026

We are currently recruiting Crew members to join us in June to finish the 2026 year strong!

Bi-annual Courage Crew Commitment – July-December 2026

Your Courage Crew Membership Includes:

  • Courage Crew Exclusive artist-made Carry a Bead kits shipped monthly
  • Exclusive email newsletters
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children facing serious health challenges in your community with every bead you carry and every person you recruit to participate in the Carry a Bead initiative.
  • A personal connection to the Beads of Courage mission as a member of the Courage Crew.

The Carry a Bead initiative is very important to the mission of Beads of Courage.

How it works:

  1. Those who participate receive a matched bead set. We ask that they intentionally “carry” them on a trip, run, walk, ride, hike, or other meaningful activity. We believe these beads soak up your perseverance, healing intentions and positive energy.
  2. One bead is returned to Beads of Courage with a personally signed note of encouragement.
  3. The matched bead is kept by the Carry a Bead participant as a symbol of their personal commitment to encourage a child or teen receiving Beads of Courage. Every time you Carry a Bead, you keep a bead building your own strand of support.

Why is the Beads of Courage Carry a Bead initiative so important?

  1. Beads that are carried and returned become beads we need. Beads that are carried are artist-made beads that are given to children to honor “acts of courage” along their treatment journey.
  2. Beads that are carried deepen human connections that contribute to healing. Beads that are carried and returned are packaged with personally signed notes.  These are then distributed randomly to kids receiving Beads of Courage on tough treatment days.  These beads, when received, remind that child in that moment that they are not alone in their fight for life, but in fact, have an entire community supporting them.
  3. The Carry a Bead initiative raises critical funds that sustain our organization, supports our artist community that makes beads for our mission, and most importantly, strengthens the experience of human caring every time a bead is received by a child or teen supported by the Beads of Courage Program.
