Sparky was an amazing man. He did a lot for charity, he was very active with CATCH. His press conferences were fantastic. He always had time for the occasional interview and conversation. He had many great quotes.

This is a good one from Sparky:

"I cannot get rid of the hurt from losing, but after the last out of every loss, I must accept that there will be a tomorrow. In fact, it's more than there'll be a tomorrow, it's that I want there to be a tomorrow. That's the big difference, I want tomorrow to come."

I still enjoy those games where Sparky, aka Captain Hook, ruled the Tigers dugout. If I catch an '84 World Series broadcast, I tend to stop and watch it.

Anderson was the first manager to win a World Series for both a National League and American League team, the next being Tony LaRussa, with the Cardinals and A's. Anderson, a HOFer, a 3x World Champion, with two AL Manager of the Year awards, was more than ample in accomplishment.

Thank you very much for all the good memories, Sparky. To his family, my condolences.
