Support Avalanche Education and Safer Backcountry Recreation

If you've taken an AIARE course, you know the impact of informed decision-making in the backcountry. Your choices—from selecting safe routes to recognizing changing conditions—can transform your time in the winter backcountry  into rewarding experiences.

Donate today to help AIARE equip more skiers, riders, snowshoers, and snowmobilers with life-saving knowledge.

Donations over $500 qualify for AIARE's Major Donor program.

Your Role: Fuel Lifelong Learning

When you donate to AIARE, you’re helping keep avalanche education within reach for every backcountry traveler. Every donation directly supports our ability to:

Advance Avalanche Education. AIARE has invested in evaluating our curriculum to better understand its impact, allowing us to develop new, innovative educational pathways to make avalanche education even more accessible. Your support will help us expand our reach, bring safety education to new communities, and push forward with curriculum advancements.

Double down on access. Avalanche Aware, built alongside CAIC and NWAC, is a new, free, online awareness learning tool - an essential first step, or a great refresher - for those traveling in the backcountry. Our Tuesday Night Education webinars bring free learning straight to your home. And AIARE continues to invest over $80,000 in scholarships, removing financial barriers to those seeking professional and recreational education.

Every donation enables us to meet students where they’re at—with free awareness resources when you need a tune-up, and supported pathways when you’re ready to level up. Please consider making a gift today to keep avalanche education within reach for every rider, skier, and traveler.

Testimonials

Erin Smart

Erin Smart, IFMGA Mountain Guide, AIARE Instructor

“The mountains themselves provide us with a lifelong education in every experience we have out there. But, it’s necessary to have courses where people can trust the quality of the material so they can learn certain lessons without risking their lives. AIARE does a great job at providing just that.”

– Erin Smart, IFMGA Mountain Guide, AIARE Instructor

Brian-Lundstedt

Brian Lundstedt, Tyler’s Backcountry Awareness, AIARE Instructor

“Nearly a decade ago, I went in search of a place to further my education. AIARE was the clear choice. They have a team of curriculum developers to ensure delivery of practical and effective information while following industry best practices. As one of the first motorized course leaders, I am proud to be part of this team”

Jen Reddy, First Ascent Foundation scholarship recipient, AIARE Instructor, & member of Teton County Search and Rescue

“As an avalanche educator, I strive to build the self confidence in my students to safely explore the winter backcountry while sparking their curiosity to become lifelong learners of snow science. I am particularly interested in fostering the cultural shift within the backcountry community to recognize female, and non binary, identified individuals as leaders and equal participants in the backcountry and related snow/avalanche fields.”
