Using a qualitative research model, participants shared their thoughts before the tour, during it, immediately after and again four years later. Interviews and observations during the tour recorded in-depth and general reactions to experiences. The literature indicates that visits to the Bible lands impact people spiritually. This investigation offers evidence that the participating educators on this study tour perceived spiritual and professional impacts as a result of the tour. They also perceived that after the tour, they were able to reveal Jesus and the biblical narrative with more authenticity, empathy, passion and insight.

To you, I offer my appreciation. Thank you Peter Morey, for helping me to clarify my ideas and direction and for teaching me the language of research. Many thanks also to Jean Carter who is a great motivator and proof reader, and always managed to give feedback promptly. To Peter Beamish, the Dean of Education, who facilitated this research by lightening my teaching load, and having faith in my ability. To staff in the Faculty of Education, who are always positive and encouraging. To my family, especially my husband, Alvin, for acting as a sounding board and putting up with late nights, early mornings and Sundays in the office. My heartfelt thanks goes to God, for the opportunity to work with such wonderful people, for the ability to take on this research project, and for sustaining me through this endeavour.

School administrators and teachers are increasingly under pressure to raise standards across the curriculum. Research indicates that the single most important factor in raising educational standards is teacher effectiveness. Teacher effectiveness is the theme of this book. It takes the reader into the minds of pre-service teachers as it explores their perceptions of self-efficacy in relation to fundamental instructional tactics. The reader will gain insights into pre-service teachers perceptions of their ability to teach English and Mathematics and how this correlates with other skills that are basic to teaching. Tertiary educators, school administrators and teachers who are interested in how self-efficacy affects performance, and how it can be enhanced, will find this book interesting. [from website]

Data were collected from 122 respondents drawn by cluster sampling in Yogyakarta. Aiken's validity and Cronbach Alpha were then employed to examine the instrument's quality. Collected data were analyzed using descriptive techniques to examine the level of misconception. The popular misconceptions between social studies and social sciences were identified through the criteria developed by Abraham, Grzybowski, Renner, & Marek (1992). The results of the study show that there was a greater understanding of social studies and social sciences for the specific fields of geography, anthropology, and politics. The fields that were misconceived included economics, geography, and history. Therefore, the main emphasis should be placed on these fields. The implications of this research will eventually become the basis and guideline for social studies lecturers to give emphases on the fields of study belonging to social studies, helping students distinguish these disciplines from those of social sciences. In addition, each social science discipline adopted into social studies must receive special attention, given the greater level of misconception among the pre-service teachers in these fields.

In this qualitative case study, the garden program (incl. market garden shop, garden care, Kid’s Kitchen, and chicken coop) in one Australian primary school was explored to determine its impact on the mathematical learning of children. Data were collected using focus groups (four student, three parent and three volunteer groups), three teacher interviews, weekly garden journal entries and, when possible, through observation. This program provided opportunities for enriched mathematical learning facilitated by: early exposure to mathematical applications through mixed-age groups at different stations; an authentic, real-life setting to apply mathematical learning; and the consolidation of mathematical experiences through weekly engagement. These program features were found to positively impact the mathematical readiness, attitudes and competence of students

Now, as we prepare to see the year out it seems everyone is talking about the new normal. The year 2020 did not turn out as expected, forcing change and challenges on school leaders, teachers, parents and children. As churches were physically closed down or limited in their operation of children's and youth ministries, the role of Christian schools became even more crucial

Spanning life stages from infancy through the years of childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood, the chapters present topics as diverse as historical aspects of Christian education, Christian hospitality and inclusion, the crucial roles of Christian teachers, and preparing graduates who can reveal Jesus in the workplace

The purpose of competencies is to ensure a holistic education that equips students with skills to flourish in the twenty-first century. Across the literature on this topic, however, there are limited studies that investigate how primary schools embed competencies into their learning programs. A qualitative case study of one Australian primary school with an established environmentally friendly garden program revealed how gardening as part of the school program provided opportunities for the development of core competencies, in particular the general capabilities of the Australian Curriculum.
