The big update operation of the army files to the V3 rules part 3.

I didn't had it planned to have the next army files to be updated so soon. But because of circumstances I couldn't do any painting. So I decided to spent some more of my vacation free time on updating 3 army files. And as promised it are 3 British army files.
Turning Tide - British 6th Airborne Division (3v1.0) Approved
Turning Tide - British Armoured Squadron (3v1.0) Approved
Turning Tide - British Armoured Recce Squadron (3v1.0) Approved
In these files I made some changes to the Anti-Aircraft platoon stats when they fire at aircraft. As you don't need the anti tank value I left that one out now.
What I also included in these files is the stats for self defence Anti-Aircraft guns like the AA MG and the .50 cal AA MG.
Later on I will also make these changes in the files that I have already updated. But because it ain't the most important changes it can wait for the moment.
The links to the files can be found Here.
Or just just click on the Files link under the title-header of the blog.
Oh and let me know if you find an error.

I am sure that the next files that will be updated will take a while because my vacation is almost over. And I haven't done any updating on these army files before the release of the Know Your Enemy book as i had done with the army files updated so far.

Thanks for reading.

The big update operation of the army files to the V3 rules part 2.

Today I have added two more updated army files to the list.
-Turning Tide - US Light Tank Divisions (3v1.0) Approved
-Turning Tide - US Medium Tank Divisions (3v1.0) Approved

I also made a few changes to the Turning Tide US Airborne (3v1.1).
-The Glider field artillery didn't get a description that it has the Breakthrough Gun special rule.
-And I now also added Staff Sergeant Pool so he can be taken with the Medium tank platoon.

Let me know if something ain't working properly or when you find an error.

The links to the files can be found Here.
Or just just click on the Files link under the title-header of the blog.

The next files will probably for the British army. Don't know when these will be done. I need to repair a few of my M5A1 Stuarts and I need to do some painting too.

Thanks for reading.

The big update operation of the army files to the V3 rules has started.

Now that I have the Know Your Enemy book I have started with the big operation to update all my army files to the V3 rules version.
So far I have done four files.
-Turning Tide - US Airborne Divisions (3v1.0) Approved
-Hell's Highway - US Airborne (3v1.0) Approved
-Turning Tide - 3rd Canadian, British 3rd, 50th T&T Infantry Divisions (3v1.0) Approved
-Hell's Highway - 30th Corps (3v1.0) Approved
These were the easy ones because I already had an Under Review version of these files.
As usual there are two versions of each file. An Excel one and an ODS one.

The links to the files can be found Here.
Or just just click on the Files link under the title-header of the blog.

It will take a while before all my army files will be updated. Even that these 4 files were Under Review, which meant that a lot of work was already done, it still took me almost a day to update them. Most other files that I have to update don't have an Under Review version. So it can take some months before all files are done. I hope you have the patience to wait. :-) I will do my best to have updated all files as soon as possible!

Fall Blau Mid War tournament after action reports.

On 16 June I was finally able to go to a tourney again. A Mid War tourney which meant that I could try out my DAK army for the very first time.
It was a 3 games tourney and each table had it's own mission. There were 7 tables.
Time for each game was set on 2.15 hours that is including army set up.
The army that I brought with me was:

90. Lichte Afrikadivision Schützenkompanie
288. sonderverband

Headquarters
-CC en 2iC SMG teams
-Machine gun section 2 HMG's
Combat platoons
-Afrika Schützen platoon 1: HQ section (Command Panzerknacker SMG team), 3 Schürtzen sections (MG teams), Mortar squad (8cm GW34 mortar), Anti-tank rifle
-Afrika Schützen platoon 2: HQ section (Command MG team), 3 Schürtzen sections (MG teams, Mortar squad (8cm GW34 mortar), Anti-tank rifle
Divisional Support Platoons
-Pioneer platoon: HQ section (Command pioneer Rifle/MG team), 3 Pioneer sections (Rifle/MG teams), 2.8cm sPzB41 Anti tank rifle
-Light Panzerspäh platoon: 1 Light Light Panzerspäh patrol (Command Sd Kfz 223 (Radio), 2 Sd Kfz 222 (2cm) )
-Assault gun platoon: 2 StuG D
-Anti-tank gun platoon: 4 5cm PaK38
-Motorised Artillery Battery: 4 10.5cm leFH18

First game.
Mission: Hasty Assault.
Being the: Defender.
Opponent: Russians.
Opponents army-list:
Strelkovy Red Army
-Headquarters
CiC rifle + 2iC rifle + battalon commisar
Sapperplatoon (5 pioneer rifle teams)
Supplywagon
-Strelkovy company 2x 9 rifle teams, command SMG, commissar
-Strelkovy company 2x 9 rifle teams, command SMG, commissar
-Strelkovy Scout platoon 2 squads SMG + SMG command + commissar
-Strelkovy Artillery batalon
4 zis 3 fieldguns
4 122mm obr38 howitsers
-Support Tankdestruction company
4x Zis 2
-Heavy Tankovy company
2 KV1-e + 1 KV2

After deployment just before I place my Immediate Ambush (Pak38 platoon). Left the Russians. Right my waiting DAK.
In the first round the opponent already got his first reserve on the table (the rest followed in the second round). Even with his numerical majority the troops moved towards me in their normal speed. With his tanks he tried to kill my PaK 38 platoon.
With my artillery I tried several bombardments but it had hardly any effect

After several rounds. There are still no platoons of my delayed reserves on the table. The Russians are starting to close in but they are still far enough away to get worried. The tanks have managed to kill two of my PaK38 and almost contesting the objective. His artillery ranged in on 1 of my artillery guns but with no effect.

On the other side there was not much activity. The Russians even went into hiding into the houses later on in the game.

Finally 2 platoons of my delayed reserves arrive. Stug D and Light Panzerspäh platoon (almost at the end of the game the other 2 platoons arrived but these had hardly any effect on the game). After the scattered reserve roll they both came up at the less desired middle of the table edge between the bocage and houses. They rushed forward to help their fellow troops. After some shooting only a few of the Russian infantry died.

The Russians are closing in fast now the tanks killed an other of my PaK38 and contest the objective. The infantry killed the last PaK38. His artillery finally managed to kill a piece of my artillery. But by now time is running out. Can the Germans hold long enough?

End. The Russians wiped out the PaK 38 platoon and killed 2 of the Artillery guns. His tanks are contesting the objective.
The Russians lost some infantry stands.
Because both of us couldn't reach their goals the defender wins. It is a 5-1 Victory for the defending Germans.

Two quick and simple built DAK objectives.

Coming Saturday I go to a Mid War tournament and just in time I realized that I didn't have any objectives for my DAK army. Because I only had a few hours yesterday and today I had to come up with something that was easy and quick to built.
The result is this:

Sometime after the tournament when I have more time I probably will replace the yellow patch with a better looking copy.
Now all I have to do is writing a background. Piece of cake...Yeah right. :)

Me and the Battlefront Flames of War forum.

Well it happened. It was put in motion weeks ago but now I have reached the point that I no longer have any interest in the Battlefront Flames of War forum. There is no longer a reason for me to post anything on the forum. The only thing I do is to see if there is anything useful or important to read. And the answer is simple; no. Sometimes I want to give an answer to a post but then when I am halfway typing I can only think, Who cares. Why the fuck should I bother. And I stop typing and don't post anything.
What once was one happy family no longer is. Lately, no for weeks or even months, the forums are filled with moaners and whiners. Also very common is how rude some people are when they post something on the forums. Towards other forum members and even to the Battlefront staff.
When I started with FoW 4 years ago and became a member of the forum things where much more easy going. I am not saying that there happened nothing at all but things were more relaxed.
At that time when I asked a question about the rules there was always a veteran player around to give a good decent answer and the problem was solved. Nowadays people ask a question and they want an official answer from Phil. An answer from an veteran or other player no longer seems good enough. This is for both Noob and veteran players. This is an other reason to think why bother answering if only answers from Phil are good enough.
For me the Battlefront Flames of War forum is no longer a great place to be. The only thing I'll do is read some threads that look interesting to me and for the rest: why bother.
I still love the game but not the forum.

The Firefly VC painted.

Got the Firefly VC painted. This makes the Guards Armoured platoon, that I can use with the 101st Airborne division from the Hell's Highway book, complete.
The model looks a bit shiny. That is because the places where the decals are added have a layer of gloss varnish over them and I also have to seal the model. This will done when the next platoon is ready to be sealed.
