TVS Raider 125: Introduction

The TVS Raider 125 is a sporty commuter motorcycle positioned in the competitive 125cc segment, aimed at younger riders and daily commuters seeking a combination of performance, efficiency, and modern technology. First introduced in September 2021, the Raider quickly gained traction in the market and went on to become TVS Motor Company’s best-selling motorcycle in FY2024. The model has since crossed the significant milestone of one million unit sales, prompting the introduction of the iGO variant and additional feature-rich versions. With multiple variants, new performance enhancements such as Boost Mode and Glide-Through-Technology (GTT), and updated braking hardware including dual disc brakes and single-channel ABS, the latest iteration of the Raider strengthens its position as one of the most advanced 125cc motorcycles in India. It continues to compete against models like the Bajaj Pulsar N125, Honda SP 125 and Hero Xtreme 125 within the segment.

The Raider iGO variant is engineered to further improve efficiency and is reported to deliver around a 10 per cent enhancement in fuel economy, contributing to its commuter-focused appeal.

TVS Raider 125 Specs & Features

The TVS Raider 125 features an LED headlamp with integrated DRLs, an LED taillight, and a five-inch digital console with essential information displayed clearly for the rider. Higher variants offer a full-colour TFT display supported by Bluetooth connectivity through the SmartXConnect system, enabling voice assist, turn-by-turn navigation and call or notification controls. The bike also includes an Idle Stop-Start system and Eco and Power riding modes to optimise fuel consumption and performance. A USB charging port is available as an optional fitment, and under-seat storage provides practicality for daily use.

Power comes from a 124.8cc single-cylinder, three-valve, air- and oil-cooled engine that produces 11.22 bhp at 7,500 rpm and a peak torque output of 11.75 Nm at 6,000 rpm delivered through a five-speed gearbox. TVS claims the Raider can accelerate from 0 to 60 kmph in 5.9 seconds and achieve a top speed of 99 kmph. The Raider iGO variant introduces Boost Mode, providing a torque increase of 0.55 Nm on demand to improve acceleration response. Glide-Through-Technology (GTT) allows smooth low-speed movement without throttle input, particularly beneficial in dense traffic.

The suspension setup features a 30 mm telescopic fork at the front and a preload-adjustable gas-charged rear monoshock. Braking varies by variant, with the base versions using drum brakes at both ends and higher variants employing a 240 mm front disc and 130 mm rear drum. The latest dual-disc models feature discs at both ends supported by single-channel ABS, marking a segment-first hardware enhancement.

TVS Raider 125 Rivals

The TVS Raider 125 competes directly with 125cc motorcycles such as the Bajaj Pulsar N125, Honda SP 125 and Hero Xtreme 125.

The 125 cc segment of motorcycles is very popular in the Indian market. Most people who ride 100 cc motorcycles often end up upgrading to 125 cc motorcycles. This is mostly because a 125 cc motorcycle won't have a big effect on fuel efficiency but it would have an up-market feel because of the quality levels and features on offer. There are a lot of 125 cc motorcycles that are well-established.

Now, the latest motorcycle to enter the segment comes from TVS and they aim to revolutionise the 125 cc commuter space with its latest offering - Raider. The manufacturer is claiming several segment-first features, alongside a completely sporty and energetic design. The homegrown automaker aims to lure in a younger set of audience with the Raider which is an all-new product built from the ground up and takes aim at already established offerings such as the Bajaj Pulsar 125, Hero Super Splendor and the Honda CB Shine SP.
