Monique Guest joins the AusSRC as a Cloud DevOps Engineer, bringing with her a strong background in cloud infrastructure and data engineering.

Before joining the AusSRC, Monique worked at the Australian Bureau of Statistics, where she led the development of the Modular Object Navigator, also known as the MON (yes, they named it after her). The MON is a Python-based interface that streamlined the integration of large administrative datasets into the BLADE research environment. The MON significantly improved data availability and usability for researchers, enabling academics and analysts to work more efficiently with longitudinal microdata and focus on producing impactful insights.

In addition to the MON, Monique project-managed and delivered a wide range of BLADE data integrations, supporting research undertaken by government agencies and universities across Australia.

She also played a key role in uplifting the Business Activity Statement (BAS) pipeline from legacy on-premise systems to AWS, delivering scalable, secure, and automated data workflows.

Her career began with an award-winning internship at Innovation Central Perth, where she developed an object detection model to identify endangered Northern Quolls in camera trap images. The project supported conservation efforts and was recognised by the AMEC Environment Awards and the WA Lateral INCITE Awards for social impact.

Monique holds a Bachelor of Science (Data Science) from Curtin University and is passionate about using data to enable research and scientific discovery. She is excited to contribute to the AusSRC’s mission by helping manage and deliver the vast volumes of data generated, and by building infrastructure that supports cutting-edge astrophysical research.
