Like @npreining, since the switch to using the Debian-package version (0d59e842e57d), I get daily emails regarding the failure of a cron job that's included in the .deb package. It's not necessarily harmful, but it is a nuissance and I don't see any reason that the Debian-specific auto-updater should be included in the package.

If I may, I propose that those files be removed:

diff --git a/PKGBUILD b/PKGBUILD
index a7c960a..785b214 100644
--- a/PKGBUILD
+++ b/PKGBUILD

    rm "${pkgdir}/opt/microsoft/${_pkgshortname}"/product_logo_*.png

+ # Do not install the Debian auto-update cron job.
+   rm "${pkgdir}/etc/cron.daily/microsoft-edge"
+   rmdir "${pkgdir}/etc/cron.daily/" "${pkgdir}/etc/"
 }

Thank you!

Hi @akash,

If you are searching for co-maintainers I would be open to opt in. Im myself a Archlinux Package Maintainer, in case you are afraid because of trust. :)

Looks like this is orphaned. For all of you that still need to update:

sudo pacman -S devtools
git clone https://aur.archlinux.org/microsoft-edge-stable-bin.git
cd microsoft-edge-stable-bin
./update_version.sh
makepkg -si

What's up with listed maintainer "aakashhemadri"? There has now been six (6) stable MS-Edge releases since the last AUR update... Is this package maybe orphaned?

Could you please not install the file /etc/cron.daily/microsoft-edge ? It is solely for Debian based distributions, and besides failing on arch it only sends one email per day.

Thanks

I was trying to install this but was getting stucked by the dependency libxml2-legacy. It was not installing and giving error libxml2.so.2 exists in system from pkg libxml2.

I was able to install by editing PKGBUILD to use libxml2 in place of libxml2-legacy and the browser was working fine no crash or anything. so, if possible try changing the pkg in pkgbuild.

I've temporarily switched over to the beta version, because I'm getting an error with the stable version.

After the update, the copilot plug-in on the right side is gone.

Thanks everyone for testing out libxml2-legacy and bittin for their suggestions and changes in the beta package to use debian packages instead of the rpms. I've pushed an update to include them in the stable package too!

@aakashhemadri To solve sync issues, is it possible to include libxml2-legacy as dependency?
