The main reason of this article is to present results of research of São Toméan advertisement painting phenomenon. Visual discourse analysis methods were used during the research procedure. At the beginning there will be presented various researches on advertisement painting and basic characteristic of this phenomenon in West Africa. The next part of the article will contain description of empirical methods used to analyse the visual discourse of São Toméan advertisement painting. However, the main part of the text is presentation of empirical visual material analysis focused on the discursive construction of identity strategies towards production and work, leisure and consumption, and gender.
