Beyond the technical difficulties that must be overcome, the acceptance of cultured meat by consumers is not an easy goal to achieve, as it depends on factors acting both at the global and local levels. Since this paper focuses on Romanian consumers, the authors emphasize the importance of developing a general information framework that would allow first their understanding and further their acceptance of cultured meat. For this purpose, a systematic literature review, based on 34 articles, was carried out in order to observe good practices at international level, which led, in the past, to the acceptance of other significant innovations in the food field. Thus, five directions of action were identified: communication, knowledge, trust, perception, and attitudes. Based on these, a model of cultured meat acceptance by Romanian was developed. This initiative is unique in Romania so far and its results can be of interest for Romanian consumers and also for many categories of specialists, from scholars and researchers to practitioners interested in launching new products on the market or policymakers in the field of nutrition, public health, and agriculture. Further research is needed on the relationships between food security and safety, traditional meat production, and cultured meat as an alternative to real meat, before the marketplace launch of this new product.

This concept growth and developed in the last decade of the 20 century, but we can find its origins in the USA, fifty years ago. The entire society has evolved and so did the context in which a company acts, that’ s why the organisations must adapt themselves to maintain and keep their standards to a reasonable level. Nowadays, the consumers are more and more sofisticated and their opinions are stronger than ever; for this reason, the manufacturers must keep in mind all these oppinions, in order to keep their positions on different markets. One of the most important tendencies, concerning the consumers’ role in the future development of the markets is ethical consumerism.

Consumer-Generated Media (CGM) describes a variety of new sources of online information that are created, initiated, circulated and used by consumers intent on educating each other about products, brands, services, personalities and issues. The particularities of this concept demand full attention from marketers, because its content offer a large amount of information, free and unfiltered by other instruments or marketing activities.

D... more Today’s human society provides to food consumers many options that involve difficult decisions. Disoriented and stressed by contradictory messages of mass media and by the warnings of being as slim as possible, a modern consumer gets confused and shows a tendency towards losing his traditional habits. Still, most experts suggest that the adoption of a healthy food behavior, based on minimally processed natural products, may contribute to the development of a sustainable food system. The study aims to design the food profile of Romanian consumers by presenting the underlying factors of a balanced diet. The conducted marketing study was of quantitative nature, in which, a face-to-face survey was used. The questionnaire was applied to individuals aged over 18 years old, and the tool used for collecting data was the structured questionnaire applied to a sample of 1185 Romanian respondents. In this study, the following methods of analysis were used: factor analysis, cluster analysis, and...

Intensive production of agri-food raw materials and their industrial processing, together with the exponential growth of world population and its increased urbanization rate have led to an alarming level of environmental pollution, dramatically limiting the possibility of preserving natural resources, with negative consequences on the "legacy" passed on to future generations. This paper aims to identify some of the key-elements that should be used in designing a general framework for a new model of sustainable diet for Romanian population. Given the willingness of young consumers to embrace the principles of sustainable diet, the framework we put forward was conceived by incorporating their views, fact that support the originality of our study. The research undertaken is based on qualitative data collected from a sample of 26 Romanian students, through the method of narrative inquiry based on participant produced narratives. Data analysis highlighted respondents' standpoints regarding the key-messages that should be included in a sustainable diet guideline for Romanian population, showing a clear focus on flexitarianism, locally grown and less processed foods and healthy and environmentally friendly food habits. Based on respondents' insights, we build the framework for a new model of sustainable diet for Romanian population around the core ideas on traditionality, sustainability and health, organizing its key-messages on the following three pillars: tips targeting foods and cooking methods; directions for reinforcing the traditionality; guiding principles addressing health and sustainability.

Thus, the entertainment, which occupies an increasingly important place in the values’ hierarchy of the society of spectacle, tends to rapidly cover this hedonic dimension of consumption manifested through the exaggerated desire of people to have fun and easily spend their free time, at the expense of the values of the high culture. In this context, the purpose of our research is to establish a “pattern” of consumption within the new generation of consumers in Romania, which exhibits a easily observable cultural mimetism, related to the values of the society of spectacle. In this respect, we realised ...

Today, this image is based on a number of researches and studies conducted by specialized government bodies and private organizations and research institutes that show that these products offer, in terms of their nutritional profile, a high intake of nutrients with positive impact on health. Consumers also know that operators who produce and sell such products are subject to rigorous regulations for obtaining the organic certificate and the right to use the organic logo and are regularly monitored by inspection and certification bodies in this regard – facts that increase the new generation of consumers’ confidence in the quality and safety of these products. Having the aim of highlighting the decisive factors which contribute to the creation of a positive image for the ecological foodstuff among consumers and in order to understand the real motivations of the decisional process of buying these products, an ...

Thus, the main purpose of this study was to assess the nutritional quality of the Romanian traditional diet using a nutrient profiling method based on the Nutri-Score algorithm, applied to several representative Romanian traditional dishes. Because this algorithm has the capacity to highlight the amount (%) of fruits, vegetables, and nuts from a certain dish, it might be considered an indicator of the sustainable valences of the selected meals. The results showed that the traditional menus do not correspond to a balanced and sustainable eating behavior; thus, it is recommended to improve the Romanian pattern of food consumption and to ensure its sustainable basis. In order to achieve this goal, we propose the development of a...

The research conducted is based on qualitative data and the semi-structured interview was used as method of data collection from a sample of 21 Romanians traditional food consumers. The study led to a typology of respondents that combines two consumption orientations, “healthy” and “convenience”, with two attitudes towards traditional diet, “hedonism” and “conformism”. Although respondents do not completely reject the idea of flexitarianism, they showed the tendency for overconsumption of meat-based traditional foods and a weak concern for environmental sustainability. For these reasons, a set of ...
