Accessibility statement

Asclepeion is committed to providing a usable experience for everyone. This statement applies to our website (asclepeion.org), the Asclepiad app, and purchases via AsclepiCoin.org. We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA and continually improve accessibility across our Services.

  • Designing and building with semantic HTML, ARIA where appropriate, keyboard operability, visible focus states and sufficient colour contrast;
  • Providing text alternatives for meaningful images and captions/subtitles for new videos;
  • Supporting screen readers and platform assistive technologies on the web and in the app (e.g. VoiceOver, TalkBack);
  • Inclusive content guidelines for headings, link text and form labels;
  • Regular checks with automated tools and manual spot-testing.
We are working towards WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance. Much of the site and app is compliant, but some content may not yet fully meet the standard. We review and improve areas with known gaps on a rolling basis.
We aim to support the latest versions of major browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari) and current OS screen readers on desktop and mobile. Our Services rely on HTML5, CSS and JavaScript; disabling scripts may affect functionality.
  • Older posts or media: a small number of legacy images may lack descriptive alt text; we are adding text alternatives as we update content.
  • Video captions: some older videos may not yet have accurate captions; new videos are captioned by default and we are backfilling captions.
  • Downloaded documents: occasional PDFs may not be fully accessible; we are replacing or providing HTML alternatives where possible.
  • Third-party embeds: components provided by external services may have accessibility constraints beyond our direct control; we raise issues with vendors and seek accessible alternatives.
  • Mobile gestures: certain advanced gestures in the Asclepiad app may be challenging for switch or keyboard users; we are adding equivalent, clearly labelled controls.

  • Self-evaluation against WCAG 2.2 Level AA;

  • Iterative fixes tracked alongside our product roadmap.
