Superior Magazine Advertisement

For this project, I was tasked with redesigning a magazine advertisement found by myself that was deemed to be of poor quality. I did this by completely changing the layout of the original advertisement in favor of a more simpler and visually pleasing advertisement. I cut most of the original text and only placed text that I found important in the new advertisement. I also emphasized the actual product being sold much more than the original advertisement and used visuals to convince the reader to buy this product instead of excessive text.

Final

To improve my rough, I adjusted the background color to be brighter and more attractive. I also shifted the black background up to the middle of the coin, and adjusted my text manipulations to stand out more against the black and white backgrounds. I provided more information about the coin in the informative text and included the logo of the company that distributes the gold coins. By satisfying these criticisms, I believe I created a successful magazine advertisement that will be more attractive and convincing to the reader as compared to the original magazine advertisement.

Beverage Label

In this project, I was tasked with creating an original beverage label. I started this project by figuring out the name of my beverage and what type of beverage it would be, so I could design my label with a certain audience in mind. Because it was a sports drink, I used a bright blue color and convincing informational text to reach out to the audience in mind.

CD Cover

In this project, I was tasked with making a CD cover for any real or made-up album. I chose a minimalistic approach for this, and used the white background to contrast with the picture of the artist, the texture, and the font. This artwork was more digitally centered, and focused on the arrangement of elements and color.

Dragon Outline

In this project, I was first tasked with creating an outline of any desired picture. I chose to make an outline of a dragon, and then proceeded to scan the outline in a computer. Using the effects of Illustrator, I filled in the empty sketch of the dragon and used the principles of design to make it final.

Beach Edit

This is another piece from GD1 that originally started as a physical project. I first was tasked with arranging black lines on a white paper, but only going horizontal and/or vertical. I scanned the design into the computer and placed it in front of an edited picture of the beach.

“Rick Owens” Logo Redesign

This is a redesign of the fashion brand “Rick Owens”‘s logo that I made in GD1. I started off with a simple sketch, then scanned it into my computer and traced it with the pen tool. I then digitally enhanced it and made it into the product it is now.
