Looking for a place to take a break from the bustling streets of Asakusa, while experiencing the modern, stylish Japanese sensibility created by a young entrepreneur?
Kielo Coffee Asakusa, located near Kaminarimon, is a coffee shop inspired by nordic culture, offering the quality coffee that won 4th place in a Japanese roasting competition.

Minimal and Cozy Interior

Walking for a few minutes from either Kaminarimon or Asakusa station, their shop is found on a quiet path.

With the purpose of delivering well-being to the Japanese, the concept of the coffee shop was inspired by the experience that the owner Yoshiike Hiroki had during a trip to Finland, where people customarily have several coffee breaks a day, unlike the Japanese, who keep themselves busy all the time.
Located in the middle of Asakusa, this shop's design is themed as Scandinavian dining meets high-grade Ryokan, a Japanese traditional inn.

There is a communal table in the center for those working on their own tasks. Behind the counter, you find the design of the traditional Japanese striped paper wall called shoji.

The comfortable chairs are from the renowned Japanese furniture brand, Karimoku. They are spaciously laid out, creating a cozy atmosphere that contrasts with the crowded city center of Asakusa.
Aromatic Coffee and Warm Hospitality

The staff here are extraordinarily friendly and warm. While I was at the order counter, we talked about a few things, like I live near here, and my workplace is also close to their other branch, etc.

They are always offering 10 kinds of coffee. As a person who loves orange and berry flavours, I really like their wide range of light-roast coffees, which comes from single-origins and are roasted in-house to bring out fruity, sweet notes.
The Nordic favourites like cinnamon buns and carrot cakes are the signatures.

I got an Ethiopian pour-over with orange honey flavour.

My wife got an Ethiopian flat white with blueberry and acai flavour. This was mind-blowingly delicious to both of us, and considering going back for another cup soon. I will try the same bean with pour-over.

They are highly talented in roasting and brewing with exceptional hospitality (and fluent in English). This shop has definitely made it onto my list of favorite coffee shops!
