Weather

Image
On an overloaded d6 encounter die, one number represents the weather increasing by 1 and another represents it resetting to 0. 0 = Clear skies. This is perfect weather for adventuring ... unless you're in the desert, in which case it's torment. At sea, sailing boats sail easily but slowly. 1 = Overcast. It's cloudy, probably windy and maybe a little bit rainy. It's not nice, but it's no big deal. In the desert this translates to wind, which isn't ideal when you're surrounded by sand. It is ideal for sailing ships, however, which benefit from the wind. 2 = Rainy. The clouds give way to big fat drops of rain. This slows travel and makes you a party miserable, especially their hirelings. In a desert this translates to welcome cloud cover and at sea, a speedy wind. In the mountains, this means big flakes of snow, making navigation nearly impossible. 3 = Stormy. This slows a party down and makes them even more miserable than rain, it also gives monsters free reig...

Sundays in Stonehell 18/04/21 Hot House Herb Hunt

Image
Our quest began as a tip off that an eccentric alchemist by the name of Velky the Verdant was in need of some rare and special herbal specimens from Stonehell's Hot House - a point far deeper than we had yet dared to venture. Any who delve these tunnels should keep an eye out for boffluff bush berries, vampiric dandelions, the octoshrub, the ambulatory tryphidd and the eumyfolk, all of which can fetch a fine price with any alchemist. Beware, however, their unexpected hostility. Our party consisted of Graden Greenlung, Orthax, Grüngebeard the Tall, Trinius Hemloc and Cruxis and his sidekick Nadir. They were accompanied by old Galfred, a young monk by the name of Cleffort and Skiffle, nephew of our beloved ally, the late Skuttleweed. It didn't take long for trouble to arise, as hobgoblins were guarding their borders in force, hurling insults at us and begging to be thrashed. To his credit, Grüngebeard, our only goblin-speaker, bit his tongue and didn't give in to their terrib...

Hides

Image
Animal hides carry the properties of the animals they once belonged to. These can be unlocked when worn as armour or cloak. When a character gains a level, they have a [2+WIS]-in-6 chance (like the open stuck doors table, but with wisdom) of unlocking its energy and granting a bonus to a certain stat. Each subsequent unlocking increases the bonus granted by the hide. Bear/gorilla - Damage Lion/tiger - Attack Crocodile/alligator - AC Leopard/cheetah - Initiative Elephant/rhino - Health Shark/ray - Saves Seal/walrus - Ice resistance Eel/giant newt - Acid/lightning resistance Wolf/dragon - Fire resistance

Dragons

Image
Green Dragon The toxic gas-spewing dragons of the forests and jungles. They have the grinning, toothy mouth and piercing eyes of an eel and the body of a lumbering Komodo Dragon.  Red Dragon The fire-breathing dragons of crags and caves, they bear the unfathomable face of a tardigrade and the lumpy body of a gila monster. Black Dragon The acid-sprewing denizens of the marsh. They have the round, uncanny face of a leech or lamprey and the grey, mottled body of a marina iguana. They turn their face inside out when projecting their corrosive saliva. White Dragon The ice-spewing dragons of the mountains. They have the writhing, inscrutible face of a cuttlefish or squid and the papillose body of a gecko. Blue Dragon The lightning-summoning dragons of the great deserts. They have the twitching face of a crustacean, all spikes, mandibles and antennae, and the hard, spiked the body of a thorny devil. Sea Dragon The fearsome, venom-spitting dragons of the ocean. They have the fleshy, flabby...

Sundays in Stonehell 04/04/21 Easter Special

Image
These pages are written to eternalise the great adventure of Graden Greenlung, Fryedah Wayelze, Scuttleweed the Torchbearer and Percian Maldicott III. Dictated by Mr Greenlung, who is an uneducated boor  out of the habit of writing. We were employed by the powerful mage known as Hazzervrim the Iridescent to retrieve the rare and valuable eggs of the fearsome owlbear, for the princely sum of 1,000GP per egg from a mysterious glade in the Dolmenwood where the ancient oak stands. We were quick to agree on these generous terms and headed off forthwith. Our one instruction was to go right and then head straight on until we passed the Hall of Guardians. I have long coveted the hide of the owlbear, but as you will learn, this was not to be among our prizes. With the help of the trusty Scuttleweed, we found our destination without issue. Young Percian led the way down the hole that gaped between the roots of the great tree. Our going was fair at first, following the fresh prints in the hum...
