The Performa Archive documents the history of visual artists commissioned to create live performance art for the Performa biennale. Capturing the essence of live performance which is based on the magic interaction of the spectator and the performance is itself a challenge to record. Copyright in the performance and the artworks created in connection with the performance generally belong to the artists and those who collaborate with them or the videogragraphers or photographers who document event with the permission of the artist.
