Probl\u00e8mes m\u00e9thodologiques<\/strong> \u00bb. La s\u00e9ance se tiendra \u00e0 Nancy, le <strong>15 mars 2017, en salle A412<\/strong> (b\u00e2timent A) du Campus Lettres et Sciences Humaines, boulevard Pierre I<sup>er<\/sup>,\u00a0 \u00e0 18h.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Les notions de fronti\u00e8re et de diplomatie ont toutes deux la particularit\u00e9 d&#8217;\u00eatre inexistantes en tant que telles dans le vocabulaire des documents tardo-antiques. Il s&#8217;agit de notions fortement marqu\u00e9es par une construction \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9poque moderne et variant au gr\u00e9 des id\u00e9ologies nationales, coloniales ou europ\u00e9ennes. Par ailleurs, essentiellement dans les mains des juristes jusqu&#8217;au d\u00e9but du XX<sup>e<\/sup> si\u00e8cle, ces th\u00e8mes ont fait l&#8217;objet d&#8217;une r\u00e9appropriation par les historiens. L&#8217;\u00e9tude de ces notions s&#8217;appuie aujourd&#8217;hui sur un important travail de d\u00e9construction des pr\u00e9jug\u00e9s. Ainsi, il a quasiment fallu attendre les ann\u00e9es 1980 pour envisager que les Romains \u00ab n\u00e9gocient \u00bb avec les barbares.
