Before my career advising call, I felt unsure whether my profile aligned with the animal advocacy movement and which roles suited me best. During the session, Lorenzo listened carefully, clarified which career paths matched the movement’s needs, shared relevant job opportunities, and gave detailed feedback on my professional profile. After the call, I feel much more confident and focused, with a clear sense of direction and the right next steps for my career.
After a long career break that had its ups and downs, I’m thrilled to say that AAC was my turning point! They helped me discover my dream career path and connected me with an amazing network of like-minded folks. Plus, they showed me how to make a real impact with science-driven altruism. It’s been a game-changer!
Meeting and working with Lauren has been an incredibly valuable part of my career transition from a former corporate path into one that is focused on animal advocacy. Starting with our first interaction, she created a safe space and made me feel very welcome in making a transition to what feels like a new space, career-wise (but one that I care deeply about). Since then, a few examples of my experience include Lauren and AAC serving as a thought partner on my job search strategy, introducing me to other organizations or individuals who have also helped support me, and identifying interesting job prospects where I might be a strong fit.
It has been more than three months since I started working at an animal advocacy organisation, Animal Enterprise Transparency Project (AETP), and I must say, the past few months have been quite mind-blowing and I am very grateful I can be a part of the community of animal advocates.
This transition was facilitated by the Animal Advocacy Careers, which I highly recommend. It has given me a great perspective on the different ways you can contribute to shaping a better future for animals.
The talent directories have been helpful in identifying potential candidates that have already been vetted for mission-alignment, skillsets, and other working considerations (if they prefer remote, time zone, etc.). It can truly save us a lot of time when looking for difficult-to-fill positions. It is also comforting to share top talents among organizations like ours so we know the quality of candidate we’re reviewing.
Thanks to AAC, I feel that I was able to gain the necessary experience to transition into a more impactful career helping animals. Prior to the work placement program, I did not have fundraising experience outside of participating in other non-profit fundraisers, and was unsure of where I belonged in the animal welfare industry. AAC saw my potential in fundraising and provided me with the skills I needed to earn a fundraising role full time within 3 months of my placement. I very much feel like I’ve now found my place in the movement, and look forward to a long-term career helping animals!
This programme is a huge gift to organisations and the animals. The time saved in recruiting, hiring, and training enabled the rest of our team to do more programmatic work. We’re also more efficient thanks to Sabine’s external eye on fundraising goals and campaigns. Thank you AAC for helping us grow the movement to end factory farming!
It has been amazing for us, and me especially, to have Sam at Veganuary for the past 6 months. It has taken a big load off of my shoulders, allowed us to do more and raise more, and I have really enjoyed working with him and watching him develop as a fundraiser.
I found the FWP a useful and singular way to be engaged with the farmed animal advocacy movement at an early stage in my career. I don’t think there are many other opportunities like it. Since I was allocated to a relatively early-stage organisation, I worked on a variety of things beyond just direct fundraising, which I think has increased my suitability in any future early-stage projects IN decide to engage in. I’d generally highly encourage people to apply to the FWP:)
Still progressing through the course however I am learning so much! It is well laid out, content is very clear and comprehensive, the activities are very engaging that helps me remember and just the tone of the content is very informative and super humble. Love it!
