Jonathan Roberts<\/strong> and Ryan Hammill<\/strong> founded the Ancient Language Institute in 2019. Ryan built the website and Jonathan taught a Latin class to 12 students. Now, ALI employs over 30 teachers and reaches over 800 students per year in its Latin, Greek, Hebrew, and Old English classes as well as thousands of people every month through its streaming app, podcast, videos, articles, and publications.<\/h3>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

We believe that what makes languages distinct is their unique history and literature – <\/span>not<\/span><\/i> the methods and principles required to learn them. <\/span><\/p>

Through <\/span>interactive approaches<\/b> to vocabulary and grammar, graded and extensive exposure to <\/span>comprehensible input,<\/b> and accompanied by <\/span>active use of the target language<\/b>, students can acquire proficiency in ancient languages as successfully as they do modern ones. <\/span>Thus, we aim to expose students to the best materials available in order to equip them to read great literature and to reach their linguistic and academic goals.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

We are also committed to developing tools in order to help meet the great need there is for comprehensible input materials for ancient languages. It is for this reason we founded Vergil Press<\/a> and the\u00a0<\/span>Ekho app<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>

The Ancient Language Institute currently offers\u00a0<\/span>online courses in Latin<\/a>;\u00a0online courses in\u00a0Biblical Hebrew<\/a>;\u00a0online courses in two forms of Greek: the Ancient Greek<\/a> of Athens, and the Greek of the New Testament<\/a>; and online courses in Old English<\/a>. We also run some experimental courses in Sanskrit and Old Norse.<\/p>

ALI also conducts Latin teacher training<\/a>, in-person\u00a0events to develop Latin<\/a>\u00a0and Greek proficiency<\/a>, and online courses in Ancient Greek<\/a> and in Latin for school-age children<\/a>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t

Jonathan Roberts<\/b>, our <\/span>President <\/b>and Co-Founder<\/b>, hails from Aguascalientes, Mexico. Legend has it that one day, after slaying a chupacabra with his bare hands, a puma granted him the power to teach languages. Whether that\u2019s true or not, he most certainly has enjoyed teaching Latin to hundreds of students over the years, who have ranged from middle schoolers to college professors. Jonathan has previously taught Latin at\u00a0<\/span>Great Hearts Academies, Veritas Scholars Academy, and Davenant Latin Institute.<\/p>

Jonathan graduated from The King\u2019s College in New York City with a degree in Politics, Philosophy, & Economics, and was awarded a Master of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Missouri in 2017. He\u00a0<\/span>co-hosts the New Humanists podcast<\/a>\u00a0with Ryan Hammill.<\/span><\/p>

Ryan Hammill<\/b>, our <\/span>Executive Director <\/b>and Co-Founder<\/b>, runs the marketing, editorial, and business operations side of the Ancient Language Institute and its publishing imprint, Vergil Press<\/a>, as well as its streaming app, Ekho<\/a>. He was introduced to Hans \u00d8rberg’s work and to active methods in ancient language instruction back in 2017 as a student in a Latin class run by Jonathan Roberts. <\/span><\/p>\n

Ryan received an A.B. in History from Occidental College in 2015, where he also studied French and Russian. He has experience in journalism and digital marketing, and <\/span>co-hosts the podcast New Humanists<\/a> with Jonathan. <\/span><\/p>\n

Colin Gorrie<\/strong>, the Dean of Students<\/b> and our\u00a0Old English & Latin Fellow<\/strong>, is a linguist with interests in historical linguistics and ancient language pedagogy. He is also a serial (and parallel) language learner with over two decades of experience experimenting with language learning and teaching methods on a wide variety of languages, both ancient and modern, from around the world. These experiments have culminated in the writing of\u00a0\u014csweald Bera<\/a>, the first direct method textbook for\u00a0<\/span>Old English<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>

Colin received his BA in Linguistics from the University of Toronto and his PhD in Linguistics from the University of Arizona. He is dedicated to linguistics outreach, and his\u00a0YouTube channel<\/a>\u00a0hosts over a hundred videos illustrating concepts in linguistics, often applying these concepts to the art of making constructed languages.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Luke Amadeus Ranieri<\/b>, our <\/span>Greek & Latin Fellow<\/b>, <\/span>is a Pennsylvania native and helicopter pilot in the US Army. Driven however by his passion for the Classics, he spends his free time applying all his energy to the study of Latin and Ancient Greek, and is especially interested in phonology.<\/p>\n

Logan Kilpel\u00e4<\/strong>, our Greek & Latin Fellow<\/strong>, has a bachelor’s degree in the Liberal Arts from Michigan State University, but he has for many years been a private student of Latin and Ancient Greek. Since he first learned the languages through the study of grammar and translation, and only learned to speak them relatively late, he knows the difference between these two methods well, and the great advantage of the latter over the former. He has become an exponent, therefore, of the active use of Latin and Greek, not only as a paedagogical method, but even more so as a philological technique. That is to say, by speaking their languages one may come to cross a bridge in time and apprehend the thoughts of the Ancients as easily as one does what is written now in newspapers and novels. To this end he takes a particular interest in the didactic dialogues of Erasmus, Schottennius, and Pont\u00e2nus, which preserve the Classical style even fifteen hundred years after the death of Cicero. Logan has previous experience teaching ancient languages in the public school system and as a private tutor.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Katherine L. Bradshaw<\/strong>, our Latin & Greek Fellow<\/strong>, has an irrepressible enthusiasm for classical Christian education that connects students with enduring ideas from the past. This passion drives her teaching of college-level Latin and ancient Greek both at ALI and as an Adjunct Faculty Member at Abilene Christian University. Whether her classroom is in person or online, Katherine guides students on the path to engaging with ancient authors directly, without the need for a translator\u2019s mediation. Along the way, she encourages her students to explore, examine, and enjoy the ancient world\u2019s resonance in their own lives.<\/p>

Katherine has an M.A. in Classics from the University of Maryland, as well as an M.A. in English from the George Washington University. She is happiest when discussing shared aspects of the human experience, particularly if the conversation turns to Shakespeare, historic Christianity, Latin poetry, Latin and ancient Greek biography, or the classical tradition in English literature. In addition to highlighting interdisciplinary links across time and space, Katherine can be found speaking Latin and ancient Greek at various immersion workshops, knitting for charity, or training for Spartan obstacle course races.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Tyler Foster<\/strong>, our Hebrew & Greek Fellow<\/strong>, received his Bachelor\u2019s degree in the Biblical Languages and Theology from Bethlehem College and Seminary in Minneapolis, MN. Having been taught Biblical Hebrew with a semi-spoken methodology in his undergraduate program, he gained an appreciation and love for this language, and desires to pass on this love to others. Tyler is also a graduate of the Master of Arts in Ancient Philology at Polis\u2014the Jerusalem Institute of Languages and Humanities, where he studied both Ancient Greek and Biblical Hebrew through the immersive Polis Method.<\/p>\n

He believes that the Bible should not be read as a code that needs to be deciphered and then translated, but instead should be fluently read as what it is\u2014a beautiful story of God\u2019s love and restoration. He strongly believes that learning Greek and Hebrew through immersion aids that goal. <\/p>\n

Carter Ehnis<\/b>, our Latin & Ancient Greek Fellow<\/b>, is Lecturer of Languages at New Aberdeen College, where he teaches Latin and Greek. He holds an M.A. in Theology and Letters from New Saint Andrews College and an M.A. in Descriptive Linguistics from the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics. His goal is to pursue doctoral work in the field of linguistics.<\/p>

Starting in high school, Carter was driven by the desire to actually learn a language from beginning to end. This led him to personal study into second language acquisition theory. Carter discovered the importance of comprehensible input as the foundation of language learning and this allowed him to succeed in his goal of studying a language fully. Carter continued this passion of language learning with languages such as German, French, and Spanish and, when he arrived at college, he continued by studying Latin and Greek. At NSA, he has had the opportunity to study the Latin works of authors such as Virgil, Apuleius, Ovid, and Phaedrus, all while discussing these works in the original language itself. Carter believes strongly that reading and then actively using a language is how one really learns and the grammar\/translation method limits one\u2019s ability to fully grasp the language.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Leo Hunt<\/strong>, our Latin & Greek Fellow<\/strong>, was born in Portugal of American parents, and can lay claim to being a lifelong learner of languages both modern and ancient.\u00a0 A desire to become intimately acquainted with the roots of western civilization drove him to obtain a B.A. in Classical Studies from Seton Hall University and an M.A. in Greek and Latin from the Catholic University of America, where he was also awakened with the desire to know intimately the worlds of the fathers and doctors of the Church, with a special focus on Maximus the Confessor. \u00a0

While an ongoing and avid student of ancient Greek language and literature in all their successive phases, as well as the modern Greek idiom alongside other modern European languages, Leo became acquainted in recent years with the growing movement for spoken Latin and ancient Greek, and pedagogy based upon active use and comprehensible input. Joseph Roberts<\/strong>, our Latin Fellow<\/strong>, is one of Jonathan Roberts\u2019s younger brothers. He received a B.A. and an M.A. from New Saint Andrews College. During his time there he studied Latin, Greek, and Hebrew, as well as participating in their Wenden House Latin translation projects. Immediately after graduating he began teaching Latin full time in private schools. He is now the head of school of Lewis Clark Christian School and teaches Latin on the side. Michael Kopf<\/b>, our Latin & Greek Fellow<\/strong>, was born and raised in Upper Austria. He has studied and lived in Munich, Vienna, and Jerusalem. Since receiving his MA in Ancient Philology from the Polis Institute in 2015, he has taught Latin and Greek to middle-schoolers, high-schoolers, graduate students, as well as independent learners in immersion and in more conventional settings. His special interests include ancient grammatical texts as well as the use of poetry in language teaching. Raphael Turrigiano<\/strong>, our Latin Fellow<\/strong>, is a Latinist, polyglot, language enthusiast, occasional content creator, and language teacher with several years of experience. He firmly believes in the effectiveness of comprehensible input and active pedagogy.<\/div>

Raphael graduated with a double major in Linguistics and Japanese from the University of Edinburgh. Vladimir Chiurlea<\/strong>, our Indo-European Fellow <\/strong>holds a degree in Byzantine Chant and a master\u2019s in Comparative Indo-European Linguistics (focusing on verbal semantics in Homer) from the University of Leiden. He teaches Ancient Greek, Sanskrit, and Latin for ALI. Vladimir\u2019s main interests lie in ancient languages, especially the historical grammars and philologies of Greek, Sanskrit, Avestan, and Old Persian, but also in Phrygian, Gothic, Lithuanian, and Hittite. He\u2019s especially passionate about the idiom and pronunciation of Attic Greek, and has experience teaching students at all levels, from beginners to advanced.<\/p>\n

He also has plans to teach ancient Indo-European languages as well as Indo-European itself using fluent, idiomatic Attic Greek. Will he succeed? Daria Sesina<\/strong>, our Ancient Greek & Latin Fellow<\/strong>,\u00a0was born in Saint Petersburg. She started learning Latin and Greek at the classical gymnasium there, and then received a B.A. and M.A. in Classics at Saint Petersburg State University, specializing in Greek medical texts and the Corpus Galenicum. She proceeds with her academic research at the Sapienza University of Rome in Italy studying Egyptology and comparing Egyptian medical prescriptions with those preserved in Greek papyri. She has been teaching Latin and Greek to students of all ages since 2016. Joanna Thornhill<\/b>, our\u00a0Ancient Greek & Latin Fellow<\/b>, was born and raised in sunny Los Angeles, California. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts at St. John\u2019s College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She has a great passion for ancient languages and makes it a priority to understand the speech and mind of the ancients as well as possible. She has taught a variety of students Greek and Latin both in individual and group settings. Apart from studying languages, she spends much of her time reading philosophical texts and discussing them with her friends.<\/p>

Rachel Lorenzana<\/strong>, our Ancient Greek and Latin Fellow<\/b>, gained a love of spoken classical languages in her undergrad at New Saint Andrews College. After experimenting with mixed and fully immersive teaching methods at a classical Christian school in Santa Cruz, CA, she received her MA in Classics under Drs. Tunberg and Minkova at the University of Kentucky and supplemented the program with online Polis courses in spoken Ancient Greek. Through Polis courses, she was introduced to the international spoken Ancient Greek community and, in addition to various online courses, attended summer intensives in Greece with Michael Kopf (teacher), Vladimir Chiurlea, and Joanna Thornhill. Here, she also\u00a0fell in love with the Mediterranean Sea. She is beginning her third year teaching Greek and Latin at New Saint Andrews College. Anna McLeran<\/strong>, our Latin Fellow<\/b>,\u00a0first encountered spoken languages at New Saint Andrews College, where she had the opportunity to encounter ancient writers like Virgil, Apuleius, and Ovid in the original Latin. This sparked a love for language learning, and she continues Latin studies while also pursuing Biblical Hebrew. She is excited to be able to pass that love along by guiding kids through a more immersive language-learning process so that they will also be prepared to tackle texts like the Aeneid later on in their education and fully appreciate them in the form in which they were meant to be experienced.<\/p>

Fernando Barreto De Morais<\/strong>, our Ancient Greek &\u00a0Latin Fellow<\/b>, completed a master’s in Ancient Philology from the Polis Institute of Languages and Humanities and a master’s in Classics from Washington University in St. Louis. He also holds an M.A. degree in Literary Studies and a B.A. in Ancient Greek from the Federal University of Parana. Jarred Sutton<\/strong>, our Ancient Greek Fellow<\/strong> & Customer Service Representative<\/strong>, holds a bachelor’s degree in Ministerial Leadership with a concentration in Biblical Studies from Southeastern University and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Religion degree at Westminster Theological Seminary as an online student.<\/p>

He is passionate about the language and literature of the ancient Greeks, as well as helping others learn to read the original authors with confidence. Daniel Newman<\/b>, our Latin Fellow<\/b>, grew up on the south coast of England and read Medicine at Oxford, initially intending to become a doctor. However, he was recommended for training for ordained ministry in the Church of England and went on to read Theology at Cambridge, during the course of which he studied Greek and Hebrew. After being ordained in 2013, he served in parishes on the south coast, near London, and in the countryside.<\/p>

He now works at New Saint Andrews College, Moscow, Idaho, as Director of Student Affairs, providing pastoral care for students and overseeing student leaders, and a Lecturer in Theology.<\/p>

He first learned Latin from his German teacher (and sat the exam alongside him!) more than twenty years ago, and it has been resurrected at NSA. He is looking forward to reading seventeenth-century theological works in Latin as part of his research into Thomas Traherne. Jade Wynne<\/b>, our Latin Fellow<\/b>, was first introduced to ancient languages in middle school. Unimpressed and thoroughly bored by the teaching, she dropped Latin to study Ukrainian. Under the impression that modern languages were far richer and prettier than the dry dead languages, she was surprised to find that Latin was as vibrant as any modern language while at New Saint Andrews College. At NSA, she had the privilege to study two years under Tim Griffith, and has since loved reading and speaking in Latin. In the last four years, Jade has taught English to students from around the world, and has found that her favorite part of teaching a new language is getting students to think independently of their native language, and to see the world from a different linguistic perspective. Reuben is the head of Languages and Humanities at Covenant Preparatory School in Southern Pines, North Carolina. Gustavo Emos<\/b>, our Biblical Hebrew Fellow<\/b>, a BA graduate of German Literature from the University of Sao Paulo, is really passionate about languages. He learned both Modern and Biblical Hebrew through travels in Israel, classes with rabbis, and rigorous coursework, learning both Ashkenazic and Sephardic pronunciations. He teaches Biblical Hebrew through engaging stories and conversations. Gustavo is also the Yiddish specialist at the Archive Council of the Casa do Povo (a Jewish culture center in S\u00e3o Paulo). Kimberly Taylor<\/b>, our Old English Fellow<\/b>, is a lover of books, languages, and learning. She received one of her Bachelor\u2019s from Mount Holyoke College with a double major in German Studies and Economics. Joshua Grabinsky<\/strong>, our Latin Fellow<\/strong>, jumped into New Saint Andrews College without ever having had a lick a Latin. But instead of Latin licking him, he liked it and immersed himself in the language. The teachers and curriculum brought it to life; after two and a half years of study, he found himself reading some of the toughest stuff out there in the world of Latin poetry \u2013 for fun! He is now something of an amateur philologist and etymologist who seeks to teach the relevance and vivacity of this so-called dead language. Michail Vlasopoulos<\/strong>, our Ancient Greek Fellow<\/strong>, is a native speaker of modern Greek and perennial student of Attic. He holds a PhD from the Committee on Social Thought, University of Chicago; a Masters in the History and Philosophy of Design from Harvard University; and a professional Diploma in Architecture from NTUA, Athens. Though he begun as a designer and illustrator, his passion for the humanities drew him away from all things sensible and tangible, ushering him into the rigorous study of Ancient Greek philosophy, as well as Late Renaissance and Early Modern scientific literature, with an eye to the reciprocal development of the notions of mind and matter.\u00a0In the spirit of such an unapologetic generalism, he has been teaching the Great Books of intellectual history in the Graham School of the University of Chicago.\u00a0What keeps him awake at night is how close we came to a world where Plato had never gotten over his wrestling career to pursue philosophy.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Bo Evans<\/b>, our Latin Fellow<\/strong>, serves as the Latin Chair at New Covenant School in Anderson, South Carolina. He graduated from Flagler College in 2018 with a B.A. in Religion and Philosophy. His passion for ancient languages began during his theological studies at Princeton Theological Seminary, where he earned a Master of Divinity degree. After stepping into the classroom as a Latin teacher, Bo discovered the transformative power of active Latin pedagogy after enrolling in a Latin 101 class with Collin Gorrie here at ALI. Captivated by the success of the method’s ability to develop fluency, he went on to receive formal training in active Latin pedagogy through the Classical Education Program at the University of Dallas, studying under Drs. Laura Eidt and Erik Ellis, and additional studies with Drs. Terence Tunberg and Milena Minkova at the University of Kentucky. Cosette Gaukler<\/b>, our Latin Fellow<\/strong>, has been obsessed with ancient, modern, made-up languages for as long as she can remember. To her, each language is an intricate puzzle to piece together that grants you a whole new angle of what the world looks like. Cosette studied Latin and French in high school but truly increased her language skills by studying Latin, Old English, and Biblical Hebrew under the brilliant professors at New Saint Andrew\u2019s College. She has a deep, unexplained desire to learn the mystical Brittonic languages and has begun by dabbling in Welsh and Scottish Gaelic. Raymond Spiotta<\/strong>, our Ancient Greek Fellow<\/b>, studied Classics at Hillsdale college, and completed an M.A. in Ancient Philology at the Polis Institute in Jerusalem. Tyson Watson<\/strong>, our Latin\u00a0Fellow<\/b>, lives in the\u00a0great\u00a0state of Texas where he serves as an upper school Latin teacher at Covenant Classical School. He began studying Latin for theological studies with ALI while earning his ThM at Dallas Theological Seminary but quickly developed a love for the language itself. Conor Stark<\/strong>, our Ancient Greek &<\/strong> Latin\u00a0Fellow<\/b>, is a PhD candidate at the Catholic University of America, currently working on his dissertation on the thought of St. Thomas Aquinas. He earned his BA in philosophy and classics from Wake Forest University, an MA from Notre Dame, and a certificate in Greek Fluency from the Polis Institute for Languages and the Humanities in Jerusalem where he specialized in Greek, Latin, Ancient Hebrew, and ancient language pedagogy. He also speaks French, German, and some Arabic.<\/p>

For the last five years, Conor has taught Greek and Latin through immersion to both high school and university students. Combining immersive methods with lessons in grammar and morphology, he has helped many students attain fluency in both Latin and Greek.<\/div>

Vegas Harmon<\/strong>, our Latin\u00a0Fellow<\/b>, is a master’s student at New Saint Andrews College, studying Theology and Letters. He started his language-learning journey in middle school with French, and then Latin a few years later. Like many homeschoolers, he developed a fascination with learning and making up languages through reading the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. Though he continued to study French and linguistics through high school, he did not make much progress in Latin until his undergraduate years at NSA, where he was exposed to Hans \u00d8rberg’s Lingua Latina and pedagogical approaches based on comprehensive input. This helped him make rapid progress, allowing him to read unadapted texts within a year, and begin to teach Latin himself during his second year.<\/p>

Vegas has since developed a great love for ancient languages, also studying ancient Greek and Hebrew, and has been teaching and tutoring for 5 years. He is fond of making translations of poetry, and has a special affinity for Ovid’s verse.<\/div>

Beyond his work with languages, Vegas works as a software developer at Populi in Moscow, Idaho, plays upright bass in a local symphony, and teaches music lessons. Nathan Stenzel<\/strong>, our Latin\u00a0Fellow<\/b>, was first exposed to ancient languages as a student at New Saint Andrews College. There he developed a love for the\u00a0Latin language and literature. Now, he teaches Latin at NSA in addition to ALI. His favorite Latin authors are Apuleius, Vergil, and Lactantius. David Armstrong<\/strong>, our Ancient Greek Fellow<\/b>, was born on a distant world, but raised by the Midwestern kindness of the St. Louis area. After finishing his B.A. and first M.A. in Religious Studies at Missouri State University (his thesis was on deification in the Johannine Apocalypse) he moved home and finished a second M.A. in Classics at Washington University in St. Louis. He has taught in varying capacities at all levels–everything from college undergrads to littles aftercare–and these days teaches full-time high school Latin (and, God-willing, Greek at some point). Academically, his research interests are far too broad, but they tend to center on and return to Ancient Judaism and Christian Origins in the Greco-Roman world, the Hellenistic and Imperial eras, the evolution of classical philosophies and sciences, and the Ancient Near East. He is the co-editor, together with Roberto De La Noval, of\u00a0Anime, Religion, and Theology<\/i>\u00a0(Fortress Academic, 2025) and\u00a0the author of the Substack newsletter\u00a0A Perennial Digression<\/a>, where he writes on the intersections of religion, classics, and theology.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Matthew Duffy<\/strong>, our Ancient Greek Fellow<\/b>,\u00a0is earning his Masters in Biblical Studies at Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina. He’s originally from New Jersey, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology. He grew up learning Spanish through immersive native instruction at public school. When he began to learn the Biblical languages, he noticed how his experience learning Spanish as a living language could be applied to the languages\u00a0of God’s word. In 2023, he found out about ALI and attended their very first in-person Greek event. He’s been listening to, reading, and speaking Greek since then!<\/p>

Matt’s current goal is to grow in his fluency with the Biblical languages and to help produce more capable readers of the Old and New Testaments.
