Hello interwebs

Did you miss me? A little over 6 months later and I'm finally home.
Huh. Apparently I missed a ton of drama yesterday on the internets.

In other news, I had a pretty great birthday and now am the proud owner of a Kindle and an iPod touch. And three bottle of wine.

WOOT!

So....I kinda kicked my licensing exam's ass. It's done!

Dissertation of doom

So I'm apparently oh so close with my stupid dissertation...yet still oh so far away. I need some help thinking through research design and figured what the hell, maybe one of you out there might be able to help. It's pretty simple stuff really - generalizability, things that limit different types of research design, etc. Basically looking over the studies in my lit review and being able to critique them. Let me know if you can help me out..
So you know how hallways have exit signs to direct you where to go in case of emergency? An emergency like say, a fire? So what happens when the exit sign catches fire? Yeah, welcome to my day. I was in session and then heard a knock on my door. By the time I opened it, I didn't see anyone and shut it. Then the wheels started turning as I wondered why the hallways smelled like a barbeque and I opened the door again. Then looked up and saw smoke and flames. It was just a small electrical fire, under control within about 15 minutes, but did require us to evacuate and leave my office smokey all day. So now I have a headache and a sorethroat. Ugh.
So generally once things get built up too much, they can never live up to expectation. This is why I've been hesitant in past years to watch Casablanca...I've always heard what a good movie it is and somehow missed out on seeing it. Until now. And  I can't even explain exactly why it was such a good movie. But I'm sitting here humming "As Time Goes By" and cannot believe I waited so long to watch this film.

Wow

I bought a car today.

I feel like a real adult now.

Edit: Oh yeah, people want to know what it is...I know I said a convertible earlier...soCollapse )

Hmm...

So I finally heard back from my chair about my dissertation...she likes it so far, of course had some edits, but I'm feeling really positive now about staying on track and getting this whole thing wrapped up and defended by February. Which would mean I could look for a place to present it after that...say the next American Psychological Association conference in August...located in Toronto. Why the AMERICAN Psychological Association is having a conference in Canada is beyond me, but if the government will pay for me to go...oh yeah, did I forget to mention that my internship will send me to a conference to present my dissertation? Of course, if another conference pops up in Atlanta, that might win out, but it's an interesting notion...

It was initially February actually...but my tour got shortened for various reasons. Since nothing is ever for sure in the military until it happens, I didn't really tell many people I might be coming…

Of course I already knew this, but adding in with a big "Welcome home!" complete with my "There's no place like home!" icon.
